I enjoy playing it with my dad sometimes, but I'd never sit down and watch it.

I do understand how difficult the game is, but that still doesn't make it interesting to watch. There is a difference between DIFFICULT and EXCITING. Golf is difficult complex game but watching it doesn't excite me. The only excitement I get out of Golf is when I play a round myself. Even then there are so many better things to do.

How could anyone sit down and watch Golf in the 21 century? With all the exciting things on TV like NFL, Football, motor racing(NASCAR, F1, MotoGP etc), NBA, CSI, 24, Law and order, Simpsons, all the great music channels, all the great movie channels, you'd have to be an incredibly boring person to sit down and watch Golf.

I was playing Tiger Woods 2007 and got on a par 5 in two shots. The green was treachourous and I putter it off the green on my third shot.

So, in real life in a PGA Tour Tournament, if you get on the green under GIR, and then putt it off the green, does that count as a green in regulation (GIR) for you?

If not, why?

I will be purchasing a very basic 16 piece golf set this month and will be heading out to the driving range for the first time. It will be my first time swinging an actual golf club and wanted to hear any advice or pointers from the pros what i might need to know or do since i'm like a sponge ready to learn. I will be going to the range with a friend who plays in amateur tournaments but I still would like to hear from others any techniques or pointers i should keep in mind when learning. Thanks!

A friend is left-handed and wants to take golf lessons. I think a good right-handed Pro is going to be just as helpful as a left handed Pro. Is there a difference?

Year before last we played LaCosta's two courses (where the mercedes and match play used to be played before moving to maui) singing hills, and the Grand (the only fazio design in san diego) and last year we played the Torrey Pines courses, the Barona Links course, and Coronado...this year Im thinking Aviara (the palmer course) and two other that I havent determined...can you reccomend a few?

I don't play so I don't know if this is funny but-
A novice golfer unwraps a ball, hits it into the water. He sighs and unwraps another new ball and does the same thing. About to do it for the third time, his partner says "Why don't you use an old ball? The novice sighs and says "I haven't had one yet."
