A friend is left-handed and wants to take golf lessons. I think a good right-handed Pro is going to be just as helpful as a left handed Pro. Is there a difference?

I'm a lefty, but I took lessons from a right hander. It was actually easy because we stood facing each other, he could show me the right kind of swing and I just mirrored it.

It's hard when you're reading the golf magazines, they assume everyone is right handed so whenever they say "keep your left arm straight" you have to translate it to "keep your right arm straight" etc. But in person, it's not so bad.

If your friend is just now learning how to play, he should try to learn to play right handed, regardless if he is left handed. The courses are set up for right handed players, and left handed clubs are more expensive. Unless he has been playing for a while and is already used to playing left handed, he should definitely try to learn to play right handed. That is the trend these days. It will save him money in the long run and the game is set up for a right handed player. However, some people aren't capable of making the switch if they have already begun to play left handed.

So if this is the case there may be a slight advantage in getting lessons from a lefty, but I think any good golf pro will know the difference in approaching the game as a left-handed player, and will teach them to your friend.

I agree with you. A good right-handed Pro will work. Have the Pro stand in front of your friend - that way, all movements will mirror anyway, and your friend can just match them left-handed.

Did you know that Phil Mikelson isn't left handed? If fact, the only thing he does left handed is golf. That's because his father taught him to play and his father was right handed. Therefore, Phil faced his father and mirrored his motions.

I'm pretty sure u do. it makes a whole bunch more sense ,because their a PRO at lefty. But if you dont to get better(which makes no sense)you could go with a righty.

Im pretty sure it doesnt matter

it might be easier because then you could just mirror the instructer, but then if you had a lefty teach you it may be easier to figure out what he is saying

i dunno, im a righty and i learned from rightys!!!
