I enjoy playing it with my dad sometimes, but I'd never sit down and watch it.
I do understand how difficult the game is, but that still doesn't make it interesting to watch. There is a difference between DIFFICULT and EXCITING. Golf is difficult complex game but watching it doesn't excite me. The only excitement I get out of Golf is when I play a round myself. Even then there are so many better things to do.
How could anyone sit down and watch Golf in the 21 century? With all the exciting things on TV like NFL, Football, motor racing(NASCAR, F1, MotoGP etc), NBA, CSI, 24, Law and order, Simpsons, all the great music channels, all the great movie channels, you'd have to be an incredibly boring person to sit down and watch Golf.

I disagree with this. I love watching golf especially European Golf. I watch golf every day, and it's exciting to watch how good these guys really are. Plus if you pay close enough attention you can pick up a few things for your own game. It's good to watch to see how their routines are and how focused they are. I will agree with the LPGA tour, being a girl it might be different but i hate watching the women. =]

That's what makes us all different. You enjoy golf, but there are many other better things to do. I would rather play golf than just about anything else. We all have different passions. Not that I don't thoroughly enjoy the other sports you mentioned, but I also have a passion for golf. I too realize how difficult the game is, and I enjoy watching the best in the world play it. I truly marvel at some of the shots they make. And I must not be the only one. It's on almost every weekend and the have a channel devoted to it. If people didn't watch, they wouldn't broadcast it.

You are correct that sitting down to watch golf on tv is probably one of the most boring things to do, unless you have traveled around to some of the courses that the pros play and played them yourself. If you have done that and you watch the tournament on tv, you would be surprised at how much fun it is because you know how hard this putt is and how hard each holes is and you can imagine it for yourself.
Also if you have ever been to a professional tournament you would truly have some of the most fun that you could imagine.
Look at the tournament in Phoenix, the 16th hole the par 3, if you don't think those people are having fun watching golf then you just don't understand golf.

I don't think you have to be incredibly boring to watch golf. I don't watch it every week that it is on, but I do enjoy watching it from time to time. I do agree other sports are more entertaining and exciting. And golf is generally more enjoyable when playing and not watching. But by watching golf on tv sometimes they have little instruction bits which can be useful, and I get to drool over the latest gear.

I love watching golf on TV, i guess it becasue i love to play golf, and i'm a big fan of the game itself. Its similar to almost all sports, people just like watching the best in a sport compete in it.
