Do you think we should give racism a place in sport game…?

No offense.., I’m just curious…..

We all know that Zidane ended his career in a bad way. But we should forgive him because he was acting under a lot of stress. He actually asked the coach Raymond Domenech to replace him with another player because he felt a lot of unbearable stress but he refused and told him to continue his playing. And I’m sure when we are in that position, anything bother us will get us out of control and that exactly what happened with Zidane. Materazzi have said naughty words to Zidane, some people said that he called him a “ terrorist “ ! and also called Zidane‘s sister a “*****“. so what do you expect him to do?

As per reports, it seems, that Materazzi has insulted Zidane ('as son of a terrorist whore') on purpose. This I consider is more heinous a crime than Zidane headbutting him on the chest & deserves more stringent punishment. Tripping, heading, punching the nose of the opponents are too common but calling names is not.
What's your take on this?

clearly, more than a billion viewer saw what Zinedine Zidane did when he head-butted italy's Materazzi unto the chest. (the next day, he did a friendly one with French prez. jacques Chirac.)... it is being said that Materazzi told zidane that he's a "Dirty Terrorist" and insulted him throughout the game, as well as did some other italian players. a brazilian news agency appointed lip-readers to view the game and found that Materazzi said that "Lila is a prostitute." to zidane. Lila is zinedine's sister. shortly after his shocking action, Zidane's mother went ill and was hospitalized, not sure for the cause.

I posted this to seek out opinions on these few questions:

what do think of this accident?
can justify it?
what have u heard?
what do think about it?
what do u think of zidane?
what should be done?
does zidane still deserve the win of the Golden Ball Award, or MVP. over the italians players?

he should be punished? Zidane was already punished for his reaction. Do you think MAterazzi should be punished and how if he did say a racial slur to Zidane?

BBC Sport:

<<< Materazzi himself has not spoken publicly about the incident except to deny a claim by Paris-based anti-racism group SOS Racism, made on Monday, that he had called Zidane "a dirty terrorist".

"It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means," the Italian news agency Ansa quoted Materazzi as saying after the Italian team returned to Rome. >>>

Frankly, do you believe that, Meterazzi, a man of 33, and a father of a 10 yr-old daughter, actually said that he didn't even know what the word 'terrorist' mean!!??

Either he is a liar, or he is a dunce.

Ok..with regards to the question that was asked recently of zidane being a Muslim and being called a terrorist..etc..it really bothers me as to why people bring religion into this..as a Muslim..i've noticed some people making some comments like "Muslims resort of violence for every little thing"..etc..so isn't it best to just leave religion out of this...seems as though just because Zidane is Muslim..it's such a BIG DEAL..sighh..so the guy is Muslim..it doesn't matter..talk about his skills..please and thanks..so why must we bring religion into it?!?!

The Washington Post, more than a month before, got it right ;-)

From The Washington Post - World Cup 2006 special edition, Wednesday, June 7, 2006:

"Despite the distraction of the scandal enveloping Italian soccer and obsessive concerns about playmaker Francesco Totti's recovery from a broken leg, the Azzurri appear to be Europe's best threat to unseat Brazil as world champion. The classically firm back line supports the central midfield tandem of Andrea Pirlo (a free kick master) and Gennaro Gattuso (a nasty enforcer), all of which leads to an attack instigated by Totti and topped by 6-foot-4 Luca Toni and Alberto Gilardino.
Best-Case Scenario: Playing Brazil in the July 9 final.
Worst-Case Scenario: Finish second in the group and play Brazil in the round of 16."

They were wrong about Brazil though. But then again, the whole world was...
