We all know that Zidane ended his career in a bad way. But we should forgive him because he was acting under a lot of stress. He actually asked the coach Raymond Domenech to replace him with another player because he felt a lot of unbearable stress but he refused and told him to continue his playing. And I’m sure when we are in that position, anything bother us will get us out of control and that exactly what happened with Zidane. Materazzi have said naughty words to Zidane, some people said that he called him a “ terrorist “ ! and also called Zidane‘s sister a “*****“. so what do you expect him to do?

yeah, he has earned it, it was actually a great time to lose your judgement, and he was old and needed to retire. He is a dinosaur in soccer and can just blame his bad jusdment on his old age of 34.

I am pretty sure he snapped because the Italian player made a very heavy-duty insult behind his back. However, as much as I think all of us would have reacted the same way, he should have known better. It was just sad. This exemplifies the fact that there will never be a player greater or even close to the greatness of Pele. Greatness is typified on and off the field. A true gentleman to the sport who politely ignores the stupidity of others and plays his game regardless and wins in dominating fashion will be a true icon to emulate. Pele isn't the king of football for his brio on the field, but his conduct on and off the field. I sometimes wish sports in general would be given back to the amateurs; to those who play for the fun and the passion of the game and not for money and personal fame. Just like everything else, sports is becoming disgusting.

No, I don't. there's nothing to forgive! I'm sorry but if you say something about my family, when I know the ref's, who practically gave Italy the easy to road to the world cup final, are on the Italian side, why not say something. The main ref' was all ready acting like he didn't see Matterazzi grab Zid's jersey, and the only reason he actually gave the red card, is because he saw it on the big screen replay.
Last time I checked, you cannot give a card, unless you saw it happen...and according to them, they were all watchin where the ball was, to then later contradict their story. Hey, I get it was wrong because it caused them a very great player in penalty kicks, but it was about time someone did something about the Italians, now the whole world knows what kind of zhit they are into.
GO Zidane!

I think this great player does not need anyone's forgiveness. He reacted (maybe over-reacted? I personally didn't think so) to a racist's insults. The 2006 FIFA worldcup's slogan was "No to racism" so i say for all of you who "can not" forgive Zidane: you can bla bla bla all you want, Zidane is still the best for millions of people!
For your information, I've seen Materazzi fake dives before so whether he faked this one to make it look more dramatic than it really is, or whether he is such a wuss, that is the question!

Zidane is a hero - and I will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. He has been such an good example - even getting up from very ugly tackles when he could have made a meal of it like some other "superstar" players. We should wait for the FIFA committee to give him a fair oppurtunity to explain his uncharacteristic violent reaction, and hopefully we can get some truth from the Italians too!!! Let's not judge him too soon - he deserves that after all his many many good deeds!!!

No one should justify what Zidane did.
Every one has stress. He knew exactly what he was doing.
He is experienced enough to know how to deal with those situations.
Rememeber, he is a very successful soccer star, and it's not the first time he has attacked another player.
So-called genius or not it's all irrelevant.
Whatever the other player said it doesn't justify his actions.

I have not and will not forgive Zidane. I had some respect for him before the match but it was gone by the end. He is a seasoned veteran. He should be able to take some trash talk or just ignore it. Sorry, but I can't forgive him.

I have forgiven Zidane however I don't think of him as one of the best players any longer...I think to be one of the "best" sportsmanship must come into play. I don't agree with him receiveing the golden ball...I also read that when Materazzi pulled at Zidane's shirt, he said "if you want my shirt you can have it afterwards"...Materazzi responded "I would perfer to take if off your wife"...

This incident could be forgiven but will not be forgotten. However, Portugal`s captain Luis Figo has committed same offence in the game against Netherlands, I just cant remember which player it was! Figo, has thrusted a head blow to the face of one of the Netherlands`s player while the referee was looking away. These acts don't comply with the spirit of the sport!

If Materrazzi reported some type of racial slur to Zidane, nicely for sure that is incorrect, yet Zidane is a specialist footballer. And he's acquainted with what the stakes are in the international Cup very last. For him to bodily attack yet another participant is ridiculous. i quite won't be able to believe all people is even shocked. he's completed one in all those difficulty countless situations formerly. And the very shown truth that he ought to do it for the period of his very last recreation, the international Cup very last, at between the most necessary factors of the experience, in simple terms further is going to demonstrate you techniques a lot of a egocentric, spoiled brat he quite is. this is unhappy that one of those number of French human beings's hopes and desires were overwhelmed because this prick couldn't administration himself for 20 extra minutes. i wager this is extra constructive to burn out than to vanish away.
