As Norman Hubbard wrote on ESPN soccernet, "Portugal's major crime, of course, is nothing more serious than eliminating England". He forgot "the again" part, but he is absolutely right. Would the English (and in particular, their fans) just give it up already, they won the Paraguay game on an own goal, they were lucky to pull it out against Trinidad and Tobago and they were one lucky free kick away from going down to Ecuador. When they faced Portugal, their luck simply ran out! As one Canadian newspaper headline read the day after they were eliminated, it is a good thing that WWII didn't come down to a shoot out.

Well England certainly should have done a lot better for sure,maybe even have won,but fate seemed to have dealt a rather big blow! Most of the reasons you have mentioned! As for Sven! well what can one say about him? useless waste of space!I'm glad he's gone,I don't think he did anything for the England team at all,he was not dedicated to them winning,thats for sure! Everyone said the formation with Rooney isolated would not work,it was more or less impossible for him to score,he was chasing the ball around! Would he listen No,idiot!! As for the Portugese,you are right,they did not play fair,in any game,aided of course by most of the refs!! Englands day will come,then the glory will be much sweeter!!

no not really b/c they wouldn't have won anyways....Sunday's match was "quality" football.Now you seriously want to Say England's got game..PLEASE!!
(FYI the same ref that handed Rooney the red card, handed Zidane his thus...ref has awesome judgement. There you go stop complaining about the Portuguese!)...England had their chances to score, they didn't step up to the plate, so stop whining..maybe you can go help them out so they can have "better luck" in Euro 2008/WC 2010, instead of complaining!
