Ok..with regards to the question that was asked recently of zidane being a Muslim and being called a terrorist..etc..it really bothers me as to why people bring religion into this..as a Muslim..i've noticed some people making some comments like "Muslims resort of violence for every little thing"..etc..so isn't it best to just leave religion out of this...seems as though just because Zidane is Muslim..it's such a BIG DEAL..sighh..so the guy is Muslim..it doesn't matter..talk about his skills..please and thanks..so why must we bring religion into it?!?!

Sunshine, I have discussed this with a number of people on here in past questions. My position was and still is that I am sick of hearing ignorant people who try to make a correlation between Islam and terriorism. I am a Christian and yet am sensitive to how cruel it is to judge all the people of a particular faith by the random acts of a small group of individuals, or to try to infer that there are specific traits (such as violence) that characterize all the people of a particular faith. Christianity too has had many historic instances of individuals abusing or selectively using its teachings to justify not just acts of violence but wars. But it is not bringing religion into this that is a problem; it is the ignorance of those who make comments based on little or no knowledge or understanding of Islam. Their ignorance comes from not choosing to take advantage of information that is available, or choosing to intentionally ignore the truth to hold on to old prejudices. I think it is important for people to have some knowledge of different faiths in order to respectfully understand their thinking on matters. You stated that it really bothers you when people bring religion into this; however, it is only in knowing that Islam is not a religion that incites or encourages violence that one can truly understand why Zidane would be so genuinely insulted by such an offense. If Zidane's faith was not the cornerstone and foundation in his life, why would his being called a terriorist be such an offense. It is because it is and therefore being called a terriorist was to him an intolerable personal affront. I don't have a problem with his having been kicked out of the game. No one knew as did he that it was a probability but he made his choice and accepted the consequences. I have no problem with that; in fact I admire him deeply for it. The other man I feel nothing but contempt for. He intentionally and maliciously instigated the entire affair and appeared to have gotten off without so much as a verbal reprimand; however, I understand that an investigation is currently underway and am praying that he will be found guilty and punished accordingly.

You are absolutely right. These are talented players and we should be enjoying watching them play the sport they have devoted themselves to. What Zidane did had nothing to do with religion... (Figo is not Muslim but he headbutted the Dutch player). As for what was said between Zidane and Materazzi, we don't know yet... don't speculate, false rumors and misunderstandings lead to more hatred. We will know soon enough.

yeah!!!
good for you sunshine
and by the way we have the same nicknames :D

I'm Muslim too and I'd really like people to stop bringing the religious issue in everything especially when it comes to Muslims
after all zidane is loved by the whole world not just the Muslims so...
let it go everyone
everyone of you has a moment of anger and can act foolishly
give him an excuse and remember his great talent..

People who make comments about zidane being muslim and bring religion into the conversation when referring to his actions on the field are just as ignorant as marco materazzi for claiming he did nothing wrong.

You are so right!

It's true, Islamic terrorists planned and executed 9/11, but that's not a good reason for hating *all* the people whose religion is Islam. I have some Muslim friends myself, and they tell me that the true religion has nothing to do with the Islamic terrorists' ideology. They use the term "jihad" in a political way, just to justify their actions and get more people to join their cause.

Yeah, I agree. Religion has nothing to do with this. Simple matter is Zidane has done dumb things like this in the past. It's apparently his style to behave badly in these games. Doesn't matter whether he is Muslim, What he did (the headbutting) is inexcusible and just plain dumb.

Yo depressed @ss man or woman! i'm quite satisfied for you... and that i'mma assist you to end... yet there is something observed as a gymnasium. You pay a touch money. You run on the treadmill, play some activities, receives out some endorphins, and also you shed extra pounds and be a touch extra satisfied. supply up dropping time asking why, because there is both no answer or you do not prefer to understand and your mind in all likelihood is drained of you asking it.
