clearly, more than a billion viewer saw what Zinedine Zidane did when he head-butted italy's Materazzi unto the chest. (the next day, he did a friendly one with French prez. jacques Chirac.)... it is being said that Materazzi told zidane that he's a "Dirty Terrorist" and insulted him throughout the game, as well as did some other italian players. a brazilian news agency appointed lip-readers to view the game and found that Materazzi said that "Lila is a prostitute." to zidane. Lila is zinedine's sister. shortly after his shocking action, Zidane's mother went ill and was hospitalized, not sure for the cause.

I posted this to seek out opinions on these few questions:

what do think of this accident?
can justify it?
what have u heard?
what do think about it?
what do u think of zidane?
what should be done?
does zidane still deserve the win of the Golden Ball Award, or MVP. over the italians players?

I think his behavior showed one more time his ANGER MANAGEMENT problems he has already shown through several years...
But... , like movie stars , everybody spoil him and accept whatever he does...
It was a COMPLETELY ANTI-SPORT behavior , besides the aggressive out of order conduct .... not to mention was in the FINAL GAME televised to 1 billion people !
Did I forget he is "the captain" of his team? ja ja what a sad example ...
Now is "easy" to blame something the other player told him....ja ja ja .....
Do somebody REALLY think players don't say words between them? ....
Ask Boxing or Football Players...."mommy... mommy... he told me words....!

OK ladies and gentlemen, people of the world ....from now on........
Every time somebody tells you something....AIM YOUR HEAD INTO THEIR CHEST ..... ja ja ja ah.. but wait !!
Wait to be in front of one billion people in some event without importance like ..... let's say ...A WORLD SPORT EVENT PLAYED EVERY FOUR YEARS?

YOU CAN TAKE THE MAN OUT OF A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD......... BUT YOU CAN NOT TAKE THE BAD NEIGHBORHOOD OUT OF A MAN.....

Accident? No accident.

No, it can't be justified. Physically assaulting someone is wrong. It can be forgiven, but not justified.

I heard Materazzi supposedly called him the son of a terrorist whore.

I think it doesn't matter what Materazzi said. They're just words. No words should be justification for physical assault.

I think Zidane is an emotional hothead. Why do you think the Italians were taunting him all game? They knew they could eventually get to him. Does everyone think Zidane is the first person to be insulted or taunted in a professional sports match? It happens in every game, all game long, in American football.

Nothing should be done, unless FIFA has rules against taunting and Materazzi's taunting can be proven.

I don't know that I'd take Zidane's award away. I didn't watch enough World Cup to get a good feel for who should get the Golden Ball.

i dont condon his actions, but you have to put yourself in his shoes. People lose there cool all the time and act out of emotions. Just because he is a professional doesnt mean he is not human.

It was one of those things that materazzi's comments came at a bad time.

I heard that materazzi said zidane was the son of a terrorist whore.

materazzi isnt an angel like a lot of people are playing him up to be, by any means. Materazzi has faced disciplinary actions also.

I think zidane is one of the best football players ever and certainly in the top three of my lifetime.

Nothing.

Yes. the award goes to the player who played the best over the course of the tournament and that was zizou.

I heard that Matterazi told him to go back to his country as well as swearing about his family and calling him a dirty terrorist , I think it's not Zidane's fault, he's been taking that kind of stuff for a long time, and it's a shame he retires without telling the world the true story, he definitely deserves the golden ball award, because if you realize, he's been pushing France through all their games, Matterazi deserved it...

zidane is kinda short tempered, but cmon who wouldn't be angry when someone insults your family? i cant believe the italian players.

zidane told the media that materazzi said words that insulted his family.

zidane's a soccer legend even tho some people think he's some kind of a villain, i think he's not.

I'm from the U.S.
I rooted for France; still would.
I think Zidane is an amazing footballer.
He deserved the Golden Ball.
BUT, THE HEAD BUTT WAS WRONG -
NO MATTER WHAT WAS OR WAS NOT SAID TO HIM.

The action was not good of course, but there is a reason which is clearly seen, materazzi.
From another point of view, he is a Muslim, his religion tells him to be calm. It would be better if those were not happened.
