Zidane played a fantastic tournament and its a shame he will be remembered for the head butt... Zidane came out of international retirement to help france qualify for the cup, and he did just that, he lead the team to the finals and up until that moment he played great. He definately deserves the golden ball!

Absolutely not! ZIdane is an idiot. The PKs coulda went another way if he stayed in.
Forza Italia - champions Mazzerti probally doesnt even speak french or zidane italian so how harsh could the insult from him be. The golden ball shoulda went to the Italian capitan.

Absolutely. It's bad enough for him to have had to leave the finale. As much as we know he should have controlled himself, the Italian guy really insulted him, his religion, his ethnicity. All this while FIFA is stressing anti-racism. Materazzi should not get away with calling another player names like terrorist or n*gger or your mother is a muslim hoe.
By the way, to that guy who says they don't understand each other. You know nothing if you don't know that Zidane plays for Italy and speaks fluent Italian.

Yes he deserved it and who really cares for the red card that is the 14th of his career. He is a magnificent player and will go down as one of the all time greats.

Hell yes. ZZ played great (in the games that he didn't sit out :) ) and as a side note, Materazzi probably deserved the infamous headbutt... only time (and Zizou, when he speaks out) will tell...
