I recognize the fact that some great black fighters from years ago like Sam Langford were never given the opportunity. I'm talking about fighters who had their chance. A few on my list are Young Stribling and Roland La Starza.

Some of the best I have seen or heard of are Duran vs Barkely as Duran showed a lot of heart and desire to beat the bigger man and Carmen Basillio's upset in his first bout with middleweight champion Sugar Ray Leonard as he refused to be intimidated by the bigger Robinson and defeated him.

Was watching a great film this morning about boxing (The Harder They Fall). Was wondering how many boxers have died as a result of fight injuries?

Has to be Tyson-Spinks, June 1988.

This was only the second time in heavyweight history that 2 undefeateds, both with legitimate claims to the heavyweight championship met in the ring. The other was Ali-Frazier in March 1971. At least they had an epic fight that more than met all expectations.

But in the Tyson-Spinks fight, it was all over in 93 seconds. It was 3 years before I got another pay-per-view fight again.
