I watch both sports and I don't feel that MMA has killed boxing. They are similar but very different sports. If anything it might end up saving the sport of boxing. What boxing can learn from MMA is how the UFC and Pride run a PPV show. It should not be about the main event only as boxing will promote a PPV. It should be about the whole show from the undercard to the main event. When a fan buys an MMA event they don't want to miss one single fight. When a fan buys a boxing PPV they are usually bored during the undercard fights asking the question, "When will the main event be starting?" There is not the same interest in the undercard of a boxing PPV as there is for a MMA PPV. It will be very interesting to see if boxing can learm from MMA. Now that Showtime will be showing MMA and HBO is looking to do some UFC shows, MMA is becoming more and more of a factor. UFC nor MMA will kill boxing. The Hispanic, European, and Asian audiences still love boxing more than MMA and I doubt that will change. What boxing lost was the young white male. Start making PPV's like MMA does and you might again regain that audience.

ufc or even the whole mma sport has not killed boxing because they are both different sports, they both have there own set of fans even though some fans may be part of both groups, but i think ufc is just more popular too the non boxing fans or to the fans that dont really know that many boxers or watch boxing that much is because ufc shows more often and the people can keep track more because there arent as many fighters in the ufc as boxing , ufc doesnt have as much weight classes unlike boxing. In terms of popularity to the people that dont know that much about boxing i dont know what boxing can do because the people that pay to watch the pay per view fights are usually people that have kept up with it and for ufc its more easier to keep track because they dont have mulitple main events happenin on the same day or a week from that day its always organized one at a time ya know.

Great Question. I actually think it's good for boxing fans because as UFC popularity increases boxing will have to start showing decent fights on network TV and cut down on the frequency of Pay Per View Events. I love boxing as a former fighter and now as a fan, but I am disappointed in the fight cards that the higher ups think is "PPV" worthy. I stopped buying PPV because it's outrageous to charge $40+ dollars for a handful of terribly matched fights. I hope UFC continues on a successful path so that boxing fans can reap some rewards as a result.

i don't agree. Boxing and the UFC can the two be money makers. the subject boxing has had is a loss of shape and massive stars. additionally, there is too a lot corruption. it is going to likely be exciting to work out what happens with sickness(mma) and Golden Boy(boxing). they have stated they're going to sell a card with mma and boxing on the same card interior the destiny.

well the question is really simple there is more white male fighters in UFC than in Boxing! But I don't think UFC will ever Kill Boxing! some people prefer to watch Boxing because UFC has to much ground and grappling and it kinda Boers people who want to watch a toe to toe fight! that's why UFC will never kill Boxing!

Not really. Boxing killed itself. There are just no really big names left in boxing anymore. Too many titles is another thing. There are simply too many organizations with titles in boxing.
Another thing is I just don't think that enough people want to get into the sport. Many of the best athletes in America and other countries are going into team sports.

Smitty hit it dead on. Boxing has become incredibly political and not so much about who's the better fighter, but who brings in better figures. I have seen some really funky decisions in the past two years. I recognize it and so does everyone else and that is why people are gradually losing interest.........That and all of the heavyweight title holders of significance are in the former Soviet Union? Hell has officially frozen over!!!
