The numbers are not standings position and they aren't the number of the batter because the number doesn't change during the course of the game.

So I'm sitting back today thinking about how Satchel Paige pitched as a rookie in his 40's, how Josh Gibson supposedly hit over 800 homeruns, and how Jackie Robinson wasn't even nearly the best...

So who was?

Before you answer let me remind you that the Nationals have not started an inning with the lead all year and have only had a lead for one inning. (they had a walk-off win)

Even though it is a terrible stadium to watch a game at, and falls apart more each year.

The Cleveland Indians needed a place to play since their stadium was under a foot of snow, they call up Milwaukee who has a retractable roof on Miller park and the staff rallies to put together everything in 24 hours, staffing the park, ordering food, etc. Then 19031 fans show up to support their temporary home team, many just to enjoy a game of baseball for $10 that they could not afford normally. another 16000+ showed up tonight.
I don't know how many cities in MLB would actually turn out like this to support someone else's team, the Indians commented how they almost felt at home, except for the sausage races of course. The crowd at Miller Park was larger than they were expecting at Jacobs Field.

Every night I check out Sports Center and/or Baseball Tonight and every time it is the same. No Dodgers, until the very end, and then only a small insignificant clip. The Dodgers swept the Giants, and the game got less than 15 seconds. But before that I had to sit through 3 Yankees recaps, at least 2 Red Sox, and then even some repeats of Brewers, Pirates, and Tampa Coverage. Tampa?? Who cares about Tampa? I understand that the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry rules the east coast media, but the Dodgers have one of the top five followings in terms of ticket sales, people who count themselves fans, and the fact that they are in a major market like LA. So what is the deal? Did Dodger mgmt piss some one off at some point? This has been going on for years, and it is always the same.

19000 fans come out with 24 hours notice and support the Indians who played in Milwaukee because of the snow in Cleveland. What other city would do this. Chicago only put up 4000 for the Marlins a couple years ago.
