Every night I check out Sports Center and/or Baseball Tonight and every time it is the same. No Dodgers, until the very end, and then only a small insignificant clip. The Dodgers swept the Giants, and the game got less than 15 seconds. But before that I had to sit through 3 Yankees recaps, at least 2 Red Sox, and then even some repeats of Brewers, Pirates, and Tampa Coverage. Tampa?? Who cares about Tampa? I understand that the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry rules the east coast media, but the Dodgers have one of the top five followings in terms of ticket sales, people who count themselves fans, and the fact that they are in a major market like LA. So what is the deal? Did Dodger mgmt piss some one off at some point? This has been going on for years, and it is always the same.

East Coast Bias. ESPN thinks the world only cares about the AL East and the Mets. Last year they barely touched on the great season Detroit was having, same scenario with the White Sox the season before. All we heard was about how the Yankees were struggling and that stupid rivalry with the Red Sox. Unbeknownst to them, nobody gives a crap about that rivalry outside of the north east. I hate ESPN.

I know what you are talking about it is always about the Red Sox and Yanks, personally I am sick of it. It is a stupid rivalry that is blown out of proportion. Did you watch spring training, the only games that were on espn were Sox and Yanks games. I kinda wanted to watch the Cardinals and the rest of the NL. I am not a Dodger fan, I am a Cardinals fan, but I think the media just doesn't care about the National league. I like the Dodgers though. The Cards and the Dodgers are the class of the National League. The NL is not called the senior circuit for nothing. All the AL is, is a homerun circus, while the NL is all about the strategy of the game. The NL plays baseball the right way. Hopefully a NL team will win it this year as long as it isn't the Cubs.

The problem is: location, location, location.

The Dodgers play on the West Coast. Therefore, their home games are always going to end up late, sometimes very late. ESPN has to plan out its sportscast well in advance, and that penalizes all of the teams out there. If something big happens, it can be inserted, but that's unusual. (Remember, the show taped late at night is the one that comes on in the morning.)

It's like East Coast newspapers. The deadlines can be around 1 a.m., so it's tough enough to get any sort of story on the Dodgers in the paper, let alone one with substance.

Yes, there is a slight Eastern bias to sports coverage, because so many media outlets are headquartered there. (That's mostly New York, but Bristol, Conn., certainly counts.) The Yankees and Mets probably get a little extra attention that way. But the problem is logistics and not a conspiracy.

The only thought I had was that since Dodgers games end late in the east- 1am eastern time- it could be harder to incorporate their highlights into SportsCenter. They could not pop up say on the 11pm Eastern broadcast and Baseball Tonight usually comes on between 12 and 1am while the Dodgers are playing. If it means anything, FSN gives great West Coast coverage

Mainly there are two reasons 1 because there games usually start at 10:00 PM EST or eastern time and there is not many high profile players in the Los Angeles Dodgers rosters another minor reason is that there will no time for highlights after the game because it will be extremely late.

There are no high profile players on the Dodgers. ESPN focuses only on what will bring in the most attention and viewers.

The Dodgers will have to hit another four homeruns in a row again to get noticed.

You asked a question, and then answered it. They don't have many fans. ESPN is out to make money, not to showcase teams that don't have enough fans. EDIT: Wait, 18 World Series Titles? The Dodgers have only won 6.

It's mostly due with the Dodgers being on the coast.By some kind of goofy law, they at ESPN, are restricked from showing a lot of hi-lites while the game is in progress. That's why you see more of the eastern teams.
I know it's stupid.
