Do you think that Donnie baseball will ever get elected to the baseball hall of fame?

I've now watched to many years go by without Berty getting into the HOF? If you look at the stats (www.twinsbaseball.com) it should be a no brainer! Who thinks he should be in? I have never heard anyone say they think he shouldn't, yet he never gets the votes. He got 215 or something like that and you need 430! That's way short...what's the deal with that?

Well another HOF vote came and went and Goose Gossage didn't get in. Bruce Sutter got in, why not Goose?

Is there any info posted anywhere that shows who each member of the baseball sports writers association actually voted for? I guess my main question is who the hell didn’t vote for Tony Gwynn? There are roughly 550 voting members and he got 97.5% of the votes. That means that there were roughly 14 voters who did not vote for Tony. That is ridiculous. I’m not a Padre fan looking for the 100% vote, but come on, the guy won 8 batting titles, 5 Gold Gloves (in the outfield!), 15 time All Star, and finished with a .338 lifetime batting average. That someone didn’t vote for him is a tragedy. I'd like to hear one of these writers reasoning behind not voting for TG. Ripkin missed out on a few votes as well. Gimme a break...

He wasn't this year, but should he be in the future? Is McGwire Hall of Fame worthy?

Forget about the players accused of using steroids, I'm just talking about needing 75% to get in. Needing 5% to stay on in future ballots. "The holy experts", the baseball writers, doing the voting. What about letting former players, managers, owners, and such. Goose Gossage not getting again, nor Jack Morris, etc. Then let's not forget about Paul Ladewski, the writer from Daily Southtown, who submitted a blank hall of fame vote because he doesn't believe in letting ANY member receiving a unanimous vote. I'm not trying to make any one mad, it's just my opinion that baseball is screwed up in Every aspect of the game.

Tony was elected to the Hall of Fame today, garnering 532 votes from the 545 ballots that were cast. What I'd like to know is can we find out the names of the 13 idiots who left him off their ballot? Do these dirtbags know ANYTHING about baseball? I'd like to see them try and justify leaving this great player off their ballot. This happens every few years, when a trully great, no-brainer HOF player comes up for election. I mean, what more could the guy have done for the game? .338 lifetime average, multiple gold gloves, eight batting titles, over 300 stolen bases, and get this - only 434 STRIKEOUTS - IN 20 YEARS! There is a legitimate argument that Tony could be the very best hitter of all time. Anyone who makes his living in any way off the game of baseball and left Tony Gwynn off their ballot for the HOF should be canned!

Anyone have an alternative viewpoint to this?

I have that and I also have an autographed rookie card of Nolan Ryan. Plus an entire collection of George Brett cards. What might the rough value be? I am looking to possibly sell all my cards.

You can pick current baseball players only.
You cannot pick a player that has already been said.
You pick who you think is the best baseball player that is left.

I have been playing baseball since i was 6. I love the sport and the game. every chance i get i watch it or play it. I am now a freshman in high school and about a year ago gave up my dream of playing professionally because i know i wont make it. I have been thinking a lot recently about whether or not i should just quit. I just think that theres no way im gonna play in the pros, let alone a-ball or even college, so why am i wasting my time and my parents money.

2. Baseball's Oldest Rookie

This person started out in the minor leagues as a 20-year-old pitcher, injured his elbow and had to give up baseball. He later married, went to college and began teaching math courses at a West Texas high school. Eventually he became the school's high school baseball coach. He threw so hard in batting practice that his players made him promise that if they won the local league championship, he would try out again for the major leagues. His team won and keeping his word, he tried out for the majors. In 1999, at the age of thirty-five, he was signed by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and made his pitching debut in the major leagues becoming baseball's oldest rookie. What is the name of the person portrayed in this "Field of Dreams" like success story?
