Goose Gossage, without a doubt. He pitched when you needed to pitch more than one out to earn a save and revolutionized the closers role in baseball.I'd also put Jim Rice in the Hall.He hit for power and average, drove in runs and played "the green monster" better than todays sportswriters are giving him credit for.I don't know why he's getting fewer votes.
For those who keep mentioning Buck O'Neill - He needs to be voted in by a seperate committee and not the BBWAA.His stats aren't exactly the greatest, but his goodwill for the game far overshadow any deficiency in his playing days.Maybe this year the couple voters who left him off their ballots will do the right thing for his heirs and legacy and recognize the contributions he made to the game.

im not dissapointed at all... with numbers like abround 98% of votes for ripken and 97% for gwynn, no one should be and everyone should have expected it... gossage very close whom i think should be voted in either this year he should've or next year he should because he is very close and deserves it due to his not only great mustache... but he was an awsome pitcher... due to a ranking of pitchers of all time... goose was ranked higher than bruce sutter who made it last year... also thats pitchers all around... not just relief pitching which puts him high up on the relif pitching rankings behind only a few such as dennis ekersly... among others are paul o'neill (didnt really expect him just a favorite player of mine.... numbers werent outstandingly good enough really) and bert blyven is very good also.... im against mcgwire though... if he had admitted to it and not done the stupid hearing thing in whihc he refused to talk... i wouldnt be strongly against him but i say if pete rose cant make it in, no one that has been found, admitted, or positivly tested for roids should... although i believe i would support barry bonds slightly...

I would have included Andre Dawson and Jack Morris, in addition to Ripken and Gwynn.
Personally, I'm not certain that Tommy John should ever be in the HOF, but he should be a part of a permanent exhibit on sports medicine that ought to be part of the Hall.
There is also a need for a permanent section for scouts.

No, I am not. It is about time those who elect the Hall of Fame members stuck to quality in their election. The rest up for it were all good ball players, but not particularly sensational.

Not really but I would have liked to see Goose Gossage or Mattingly get in.
