I don't keep up with sports and got some odd responses when I wore a jersey with his name & number on it. What's the problem in a nutshell?

Personally, I think he is a cheater. But, he has done some good things for the community like donating money to an organization that helps abused children. I don't like the fact that he used steroids to break Roger Maris's record back in 1998. The irony is that Roger Maris didn't make the Hall of Fame. I don't respect him as a player, and had he not donated money to charities, then I wouldn't have respected him as a person either. But, if you want to wear his jersey then fine. This is the USA, and you should have the right to wear anything that you want.

To avoid awkward situations like the one you encountered wear the jersey around the house.

Unfortunately Mark did use steroids and it ruined his chances of ever becoming a member of the Hall of Fame.

People look at that jersey and they associate it with a loser and that should not reflect on you.

He is an embarrassment to the game of baseball. He used steroids which is an illegal substance in baseball.

He will not be going into the Hall of Fame this year.

I suggest using the jersey as a throw rug for your dog if you have one. If not use it to wash your car with.

Of course you can wear whatever t-shirt you want, but you don't need the hassle of justifying it or being judged because if it.

Is that shirt worth dealing with odds responses? No.

That should give you some idea as to how much this guy is disliked.

there are a lot of idiots in America. You can and should wear any t-shirt you want.
Personally, i don´t care if you wear a Mc.Gwire T-shirt. He was a great player, until proven guilty. and NOT ONE PERSON has proved he used steroirds or prohibited substances.
Anyway, a lot of people wears other kind of shirts (with rappers or other thugs) and not one person responsed bad at them.
I had the same problem with my "Yankees are better than red sox" t-shirts. All kind of sad and disturbing reactions. And that told me a lot of american does not deserve the kind of life they have.

He was liked for hitting the long ball period. Well respected is pushing it.

There's no way to sugar coat this issue no matter how hard Cardinals fans try. The man is a coward who cheated and now is not liked nor remotely respected for what he did by his peers.

He's a loser.

McGwire was well thought of and highly respected before the truth came out about his steroid use.........CAT

Just imagine cheering your heart out for some and then later find out he's the biggest fraud/cheat ever. He has lost the trust of America.
