I've now watched to many years go by without Berty getting into the HOF? If you look at the stats (www.twinsbaseball.com) it should be a no brainer! Who thinks he should be in? I have never heard anyone say they think he shouldn't, yet he never gets the votes. He got 215 or something like that and you need 430! That's way short...what's the deal with that?

For the record, i'm not Bert's son. To the guy who said not first balot. Use spell check, then learn that he hasn't been in the league for a long time now, he is on atleast his 5th or 6th ballot. To the guy who said he was mediocre, you can anylize the numbers and twist them anyway you like. But if you are going to do that, make sure you realize how many seasons he was playing on teams with brutal offenses and that should reflect his dominance. He was never on a team where he could win a game 6-5 or 7-6. He HAD to dominate or the teams generally had no chance of winning. He lost plenty of games while only giving up 1 or 2 runs. If you need more proof check the web address below. Plenty of evidence there.

He is comparable to 4-5 pitchers that I can think of off the top of my head that are in already. Don Sutton, Gaylord Perry, Phil Niekro, Fergie Jenkins, Jim Bunning, Catfish Hunter. He also won 2 world series, don't forget about those! Vote him in! Jim Kaat too!

We will possibly no longer trust them, yet i think of you will discover the justifications Bert hasn't been elected yet: .534 triumphing share, 250 losses, purely 2 seasons with greater effective than 17 wins and 430 abode runs allowed. that doesn't make it precise, notwithstanding it does lend some perspective. each and every so often numbers do humorous issues. If he had gained thirteen greater video games this communication does no longer be occurring. i think of that's honest to assert in case you think of Bert must be in, you ought to provide a confusing verify out the two Jim Kaat and Tommy John. in spite of the undeniable fact that for some gamers you ought to bypass previous the numbers, a speedy assessment of all 3 could be exciting. I tacked Nolan Ryan on the tip purely for kicks. (The stats are shown interior the order the pitchers are listed.) Bert Blyleven / Tommy John / Jim Kaat / Nolan Ryan Wins: 287 / 288 / 283 / 324 Losses: 250 / 231 / 237 / 292 Win%: .534 / .555 / .544 / .526 era: 3.31 / 3.34 / 3.40 5 / 3.19 WHIP: a million.20 / a million.28 / a million.26 / a million.25 ok/BB: 2.80 / a million.seventy 8 / 2.27 / 2.04 Innings: 4970 / 4710 / 4530 / 5386 Shutouts: 60 / 40 six / 31 / sixty one era+: 118 / a hundred and ten / 107 / 111

I honestly don't think he's Hall worthy, I think there were a lot of good players, who are not Hall worthy, JT Snow, Tommy John, Bert Blyleven...Bert won 20 games once, never won a Cy Young but won two Series Rings, he is also fifth in the all-time strikeout leaders. Yet he "only" won 287 games, and lost 250 games. Not a good average, and you can't say he didn't have a team to back him up when he was on contending teams year after year, that excuse works with Nolan Ryan. Honestly I think there should be a Hall of Fame for people not in the big one, but deserve a smaller one.

Yes; its a pityful that the Hall hasn't allow him in... as well as Lee Smith and Rich Goosage, I think it is too far fetch for the Hall of Fame to let great players get in despite having horrible teams at times... he is a two time World Series winner both in Pittsburgh and in Minnesota so more kudos for him to get in....

Yes, Bert deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. That is the only thing that is missing from his great career.

Yes along with Tommy John and Luis Tiant.

You need to look closely at his career overall. He was never a dominating pitcher and he was hurt a lot during his career. His numbers a really based off of longevity.

I could see why he didn't get in. If you look at his mediocre career you will see the same.

I think he does. He was lights out when he pitched. He belongs in the HOF with Goose and Jim Rice.

I think he should. His numbers don't look as good as they might have because of the many poor teams he played for. I hope he makes it in someday.
