The New York Post said the Yankees were considering sending Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera and a player to be named (my bet: developing minor leaguer) to the Phillies for Abreu, Pat Burrell, David Bell and Tom Gordon.
This trade gives the Yankees some outfielders and bullpen help. This trade the Phillies a star, and an outfielder. here would be their line-ups.
Yankees:
Damon, CF
Jeter, SS
J. Giambi, DH
Abreu, RF
Posada, C
Burrell, LF
Phillips, 1B
Cairo, 2B
Bell, 3B

Phillies:
Jimmy Rollins, SS
Chase Utley, 2B.
Rodriguez, 3B
Ryan Howard, 1B
David Dellucci, RF
Cabrera, LF
Aaron Rowand, CF
Mike Lieberthal, C.

i think it's a win-win for both teams. what do you think?

I have no idea personally, but people seem to think it is the Yankees, which would be not cool at all because the Rocket became who he is now while in Boston.

On the heels of Harold Reynold's untimely departure, please nominate some sports people that should be fired.

I nominate Steven A. Smith due to his anger
as well as Tim McCarver & Joe Buck due to the fact that they have no idea what they are talking about.

I posted a question earlier today about - Alex Rodriguez. A simply put question about a possible trade. Arod is a very good ball player and any time that an athlete of his magnitude is the subject of trade rumors it is news. I have received a lot of negative feed back about this from baseball fans who apparently are really thin skinned about the business prospects of a trade. WOW- !

The situation:

Runner on first. Pitcher delivers the ball and hits the batter but the umpire yells balk before the pitcher can stop his delivery. Does the batter get first base or is it a dead ball and the runner simply go to second base with the batter still at bat?

I think I know the answer, but I want to know what you all think.

Maddux won about 200 of his 326 wins with the Braves and won his World Series ring with the Braves...but he started and will end his career in Chicago. So, which hat will he wear?

I see it all the time on here, used both correctly and incorrectly. Lots of "Big Papi is clutch" (true) and "Arod isn't clutch" (untrue if anyone bothers to check the stats).

And haven't Bill James and the statheads argued that it might not even exist, that "clutch" hitting provides too small a sample size to be relevant, and that most players will tend towards the mean given enough chances? I think some clutch guys do exist - Mike Sweeney is an obvious example of a guy who picks it up with guys on base.

It just seems to me that people throw it around here, and on TV/radio, without really knowing whether or not it's true.

Thoughts?
