The New York Post said the Yankees were considering sending Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera and a player to be named (my bet: developing minor leaguer) to the Phillies for Abreu, Pat Burrell, David Bell and Tom Gordon.
This trade gives the Yankees some outfielders and bullpen help. This trade the Phillies a star, and an outfielder. here would be their line-ups.
Yankees:
Damon, CF
Jeter, SS
J. Giambi, DH
Abreu, RF
Posada, C
Burrell, LF
Phillips, 1B
Cairo, 2B
Bell, 3B

Phillies:
Jimmy Rollins, SS
Chase Utley, 2B.
Rodriguez, 3B
Ryan Howard, 1B
David Dellucci, RF
Cabrera, LF
Aaron Rowand, CF
Mike Lieberthal, C.

I think not. To be honest, I think A-Rod is simply going through a rough patch. As a big Yankees fan, it's remarkably insufferable but he should start turning it around soon.

I'm not sold on Pat Burrell and as far as Abreu, I don't know where his power has gone to. Seems like it's been zapped from him. David Bell sucks.

The Yankees are not going to do this.

First of all the Phils wouldnt be pickin up a 25 mil contract they be pickin up a 15(Texas still pays Arod 10 mil a year).
However though the Yankees arent going to do it, if they were to pull off this trade I would stop being a yankees fan for life. How is it a win-win when David Bell becomes the Yanks best option at 3rd?!? Why would the yankees want 2 outfielders when they have Sheffield and Matsui coming back and it would be at the price of Melky who Yankee fans love. You dont trade a legend for sum1 whos been in an immense power slump(abreu) and sum1 whose known to k and slump alot(burell). If they was to pull this trade off do u honestly think the yanks would be better off in October?(they will make it)

I cant see the phillies picking up a 25 mill a year contract plus other contracts for the long haul. I really don't see how this happens. It benefits the yankees big time, but remember the phillies had j thome and didnt want his contract so they traded him, plus david bell as their 3rd basemen? that a major step down offensively and david bell has 14 errors to 18 for a rod, which means the defense for the yankees at 3rd base would still be lacking

I agree with all but trading Melky. He's really showing that he's a solid player here in his rookie year and he's making next to nothing in the world of baseball.

Right now Cairo is just filling in for the injured Robinson Cano at 2B. Cano is the starting second basemen and Cairo is a back- up utility guy.

A-Rod WILL NOT BE TRADED!!! So stop wasting your breath on A-Rod trade rumors!

1. The Yankees won't be able to trade his contract.
2. Other teams won't give them anything close to equal value in return, especially if they have to pick up his contract.
3. Cashman and Torre have REPEATEDLY said he's not going anywhere.
4. A-Rod has a full no-trade clause and has said that he won't accept a trade out of NY.

That trade got floated three or four days ago... the rumor is old and is so false it is laughable.

Let's start a rumor. A-Rod to the Royals for Reggie Sanders.

no chance-A-Rod already said he would veto the trade. the yankees want trade him! texas pays half of his salary so the yanks have A-Rod cheap!
remember, he is a SS not a 3rd baseman! if you put jeter, tejada, young, reyes, or renteria at 3rd they would have problems as well.
