Ya there is the DH and sure they have the AL and the parks are on average smaller, but the new NL parks being built are smaller than normal too. I guess my real question is if they are both playing the same game why is the AL lesser of a game?

When looking at Baseball standings there are various columns - won and lost are fairly obvious but what is PCT and GB and why is GB used for all teams except the one top in the division?

Also, how is it decided what teams play each other - I understand that Boston will play Tampa, NY Yankees, Toronto etc ... as they are in the same table but how come they play Seattle and NY Yankees play Chicago White Sox when they are not in the same division.

I was a little surprised to see Reynolds fired, given that he was the one likable guy on Baseball Tonight. Even if he didn't know what he was talking about, he seemed like a decent guy.

What I'm wondering is who ESPN should next get rid of, given their lineup of imbeciles when it comes to baseball. Should it be Joe Morgan, who's bad enough that he has a whole site dedicated to his idiocy (www.firejoemorgan.com), the moronic Steve Phillips, or someone else from a crew that generally has no idea (except, of course, for the great Peter Gammons).

Your thoughts?

I just read a report on the NY Post website that Harold Reynolds was fired? Is this true? Has anyone else heard this? Reynolds was the whole reason why I watched Baseball Tonight!

There is a rule that says you have to have 9 guys in the field, and 8 can be in fair territory. But with noone on base, and less than 2 strikes, is there any rule to stop you from putting your catcher 1 foot in foul territory in left field?

Practically speaking, I expect the problem is the umpire would suddenly start viewing every single pitch as a ball, but I'm wondering if there is a firm rule on this.

Ok I know this seems far fetched but it is low level adult softball so bare with me. Runner a third, the guy batting lines out to 1B. The guy on 3rd starts running to home after the catch. 1B throws home...play at the plate runner safe.

3 Questions

Batters gets an out, not a Sacrafice...right?
Does batter get an RBI?
Does runner get a Stoeln Base?

OK, I stand corrected and I won't say that Red Sox fans NEVER boo their players........I will just say that I WILL NEVER BOO a player, it's just wrong. Sure, they will have their good days and bad (like my boy, josh), but I do feel for A-Rod!
see..........I'm not going to bash him!

Why are Yankee fans such babies. If their team doesn't win every game and if A-Rod doesn't hit a homerun everytime up, they cry like little babies.

It's a game. There are winners and losers. Stop being a bunch of sore losing cry babies.

LETS GO METS !!!

Regardless of clutch hits and wins and walkoffs, the numbers do not lie. Look at the improvement every year, this year he is on pace for 56 HR and 160 RBI this year. If that is not MVP worthy what is?

Year Team HR RBI OBP AVG

2002 MIN 20 75 .339 .272
2003 BOS 31 101 .369 .288

I can't understand why you would boo at your "star" player A-Rod when he comes to bat.....and he's sooooo wonderful as you say. That is something that us Red Sox fans would never do to our players....right redsoxfan and answerman??!!
