It has NOTHING to do with which is better, it refers to which league is older. The NL is 25 years older than the AL, that's why it's called the Senior circuit.
BTW, the AL has won many more World Series than the NL.

""Did you see any of the interleague play this year? The American League has won, what, 10 of the last 14 World Series? The National League has only won 41 World Series championships to the American League's 60. Hell, the Yankees have only won 15 fewer championships than the entire National league! ""
Yea but the next team closest to the Yankees in the AL is Boston with 6. And if you don't include the team that tries to buy the world series every year it would be 41-34 in the standings. (Yes good job Yankees with your 950 million payroll, which is 400 million more than any other team in the MLB (and the next highest is Boston, who've won the second highest world series in AL, with 563), for carrying the entire AL. *Clap Clap Clap*
Oh and if you look at the totals for interleague play all together from 1997 the record as it stands is NL- 1,104 AL -1,095
Baseball goes in cycles - Look at the All Star game standings from 1960-1990 It was NL -26 AL -7 (They played 2 games a year from 60-62 and one was a tie.)
And here's the all time record for All Star series: National League 41, American League 34, 2 ties .
Why Yes the NL leads in everything.

I disagree that the AL is playing lesser of a game. The DH rule alone should not make the AL the lesser league. The fact is that three of the five smallest parks are AL parks. Park size really shouldn't be an issue.

"Junior" is a reference to the league's age, not the quality of play. While the AL dates from 1901, the NL started in 1876. Hence, the AL is junior.

It is not-the American League has proven that is the better league over the last 10 all-star games (9-0-1) and winning the last two World Series with a record of 8 and 0.

It's considered the junior circuit because it was founded after the National League which is called the senior circuit.

I'm not really sure. Maybe it's because of the smaller parks...
