I am a Yankee fan, and I have to agree with you about many of these people. While many Yankees fans (like me) remember the long drought from 78 to 96, many younger fans do not. I think the way they are treating A-Rod is atrocious. They're obviously driving the guy over the edge. During last nights game, an away game in TX, he was smiling all the time, he looked happy for once. If the fans in NY would just lighten up a bit, he would probably improve. He is just in a slump, and the volume of what I can only call hatred directed towards him will not help him get over it.

Isn't it exceptional that the one factor haters can say is "The Yankees consistently purchase the first-class gamers"?? Why might you spend money on crap?? Teams like Florida, Tampa Bay, Kansas City and Pittsburgh do not pay for the first-class viable workforce they usually undergo for it. You by no means listen any person say that The Yankees are just about bankrupt in view that noone comes to observe them lose. No one ever talks approximately Boston. They do the identical factor however for the reason that it is The Yankees' closest rival, it is regarded ok and for the well of festival. How quickly we overlook that A-Rod was once a Red Sox earlier than Uncle Bud voided the deal and The Yankees stepped up.

I'm a Blue Jays fan, but I've gotta' stick up for the Yankee fans.
From what I've seen on here, it's the Red Sox fans who are the most obnoxious and/or rude. Not all of them, granted, but that's definitely the pattern I've seen.
As for winning, how would you know much about that being a Mets fan?
For Remik - That was more about Mets' fans lecturing Yankee fans about winning...Believe me, it's been a long time as a Jays' fan - 1993 seems like a hundred years ago.

Before yesterday A-Rod was 4-27 in like the past 6 games. He also has struck out 10 times in the past 8 games and he's left a ton of guys on base. Paying $15 mil. a year for someone hitting .275 is upsetting. He also has made the most errors of anybody this year with 18.
So we're not crying, just disappointed with his performance this year.

They are passionate, but they definitely do have a quitter's attitude. This A-Rod thing has gotten to the point of ridiculousness where he gets booed all the time and Mike Mussina calls him out in the press after a loss. Give the guy a break and have some faith in your team. Red Sox history of losing has given us faith and the Yankees history of winning has turned them into a bunch of spoiled brats with a sense of entitlement that has been torn away even with 180 million payroll.

You can't talk about all fans of a certain team. Some people are rude and some are not. I know a lot of good Met fans and a lot of bad Met fans.
I love the Yankees and A-Rod is great!

Again, another fan who thinks he's a different brand of fan because of the team he roots for.
met fans have booed guys like their own hometown hero John Franco when he was struggling. They booed Mike Piazza. They booed Carlos Beltran even before this season began. So don't act like you guys don't cry like little babies. I listen to WFAN and for the last couple of years before this, met fans were crying about everything.
All fans are the same.

The ones that boo have no understanding of the game, and are fair weather, johnnie - come lately fans. Booing never helps a player hearing it from the home crowd. No matter how how much money a player makes he is going to fail more than succeed. Babe Ruth struck out alot, so did Reggie.
