Try an experiment. Position yourself like a guy in the batters box. Bent knees, on your toes, leaning slightly forward. This position chenches your butt muscles, and thigh muscles. It is not an easy position to maintain, they do lots of exercises to be able to stay in this position for extended periods without losing their balance.

When playing baseball you are taught to never be flat footed, mostly play on your tips of toes. This flexes all the leg muscles all the way to the butt!

believe it or not a lot of the power used for hitting comes from your butt. Watch a hitter start his lower body moving into a pitch while his upper body remains motionless. Using your butt you can generate power hitting and throwing.
