I would love to say Mark Teixeira of the Texas Rangers and Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals, but their lack of speed prevents them from being all-around players. Therefore, I’ll say Jason Bay of the Pittsburg Pirates his .300 BA, 32 HR 100 RBI and 21 SB in all 162 games is impressive. The hard part is pitching to him when you don’t have to whom else the Pirates have. Jim Edmonds helps Pujols out a lot and Mike Young helps Teixeira. However, Bay has nobody and put up impressive numbers. I think Sizemore will put up better number once he gets some supporting cast to help him.

Simple: Pujols.
Anyone who gives a different answer obviously doesn't watch baseball outside of the Red Sox (Youklis, are you flippin serious? The question is "the best," not "the most under-rated") or Yankees (Jeter and A-Rod are good, but the question is "right now.") Pujols missed two weeks due to an injury and is still tied for the lead in HRs, is third in RBIs, 4th or 5th in Averge, and plays GREAT defense. (not good, but GREAT)
Sizemore is good; Pujols is GREAT

Albert Pujols. He hits for power, average, he's clutch. I'd want him at the plate over any other hitter in baseball.
However, it's great to see so many of you recognizing the efforts of Mr. Jeter. It's been a true privilege for the past 11 years to watch that man don the pinstripes for the Yankees. He's world class. The only thing that he doesn't do well is hit for power, in terms of homeruns. He hits for high average, steals bases, is an excellent fielder, has uncanny baseball acumen, a true champion and always makes the right play at the right time.

well i dont know how many times grady sizemore has played third base, left field, shortstop, firstbase, and even a little second base in an all star game...people always think about pujols' bat but they dont realize how versatile the guy is defensively. so id have to say its not really even close...albert all the way

If you asked me this question last year I would have said A-Rod, but now he is going through a rough patch so I would have to say Derek Jeter. He can field and he can throw. He will hit in the 300's, he will give you about 15 HR's and 20 to 30 steals. Plus he is a great base runner and he is the best team leader. Without him the yankess would never have won any world series and they would not be winning now. Derek Jeter is the best overall player in the league.

Albert Pujols and in second, Derek Jeter. Don't laugh at #2, either. While not a power hitter, he is Mr. Clutch and a tremendous hitter. He is also the captain of the Yankees - something ARod can't say.

Albert Pujols is just awesome. So I'll go with Albert Pujols. He's just such a great hitter, decent fielder, he's good. I'd take albert over Grady.

Everybody says it Pujols, mainly because he has power to spare. I'm going to go with the unobiovious and go with Tampa Bay Carl Crawford. The man can hit for average, power, speed (and lots to burn), and plays good defense in the outfield. The only reason he's not recoginized is that he's in Tampa, but just look at his number and you can see why he's the ultimate 5-tool player.
