I can't understand why you would boo at your "star" player A-Rod when he comes to bat.....and he's sooooo wonderful as you say. That is something that us Red Sox fans would never do to our players....right redsoxfan and answerman??!!

Thank you, answerman, for clearing up the Big Papi comment. I won't worry about those strike outs anymore and just keep enjoying our wins!!

to craig s: I'm not bad mouthing A-Rod because that's not what I'm about (like most yankee fans are to red sox fans!!). I think he's good, but I've heard how wonderful he is and he doesn't impress me as to being that. Sorry.

I couldn't agree with you more. At first it was a simple slump, but I think the "fans" are actually making it worse. Think about it; when you're about to go into a situation where you KNOW something unpleasant is going to happen (like being viciously booed, for example, by people who are supposed to be your allies) you get tense, you being to sweat, your heart rate goes up, you might even begin to get shaky. Who could perform under those conditions? While it is true that NY is a notoriously difficult place to play, most players have a bad year when they first get there, I've been a NY baseball fan since I was a tiny kid, over 30 years, and I haven't ever seen anything like this.
Those fans should be ashamed.

I booed Johnny Damon, but I guess he was on the Yankees. I feel like booing Varitek every once in a while, but if one of our stars (manny, papi, evn crisp) struggles, the last thing they need to hear is boos at home. I wish I could say the Celtics fans had treated Antoine with the same respect, but losing brings the boos. So right now the Red Sox are kind of happy with where we are at and the Yankees are very upset with how things are going.

Most Yankee enthusiasts are performing all conceited of this sizzling streak. Um, you are nonetheless in moment situation within the A.L. East and are tied for the lead within the Wild Card, and wouldn't have the pleasant list within the league. Remember, they've groups just like the Blue Jays in sizzling streaks as good, most effective sixty one/two video games at the back of them and surging. Anytime some thing occurs, Yankee enthusiasts feel they are headed to the World Series. Sign Roger Clemens for $five million bucks in line with pitch - an exaggeration -, they will win the World Series. They win 7 out of the final 10 video games, World Series. They're nonetheless combating for a playoff spot too, as good as each person however the Devil Rays and the Rangers.

Well, I'm a true Yankee fan and I do not boo. I feel absolutley terrible for A-Rod. I mean, he's a wonderful player and he works really hard. I just wish all of the boos could stop, hopefully it will soon when A-Rod starts playing better. Never in a million years would I boo a Yankee player. I know how great of a team my Yankees are and I know every single one of them work very hard every game they play.

As a life long Red Sox fan who has been to some games, I would have to a agree with the last answer and say that we often boo players on our team....including Roger Clemens the year before he went to Toronto (oops).

Oh Beckettgirl you make a very valid point.I have honestly booed Youkie before but my *** was at home not at Fenway, when your fans are booing you at home in YOUR stadium it is a different story.I do feel bad for arod, if people were true fans of the Yankees they would not boo him especially at their home stadium.I would NEVER go to Fenway and disrespect my Red Sox like that I do not care how much they suck.I am a fan for life enough said.

beckettgirl, I don't want to start a fight but I have to take exception to what you said about Red Sox fans "never" booing your players when you booed 2004 heroes Keith Foulke, Kevin Millar, and Mark Bellhorn while they struggled the following season.
Please, don't ever make your fans out to be a different brand of fans than other fans. Fans are fans...they pretty much all think and act the same way.

i personally don't like A-Rod and i am a red sox fan...but u got to respect the man for how good he is...everybody has slumps...he even said it himself yesterday on sportscenter..the media blows it way out of proportion like everything else...and no real fan that knows the game would boo a player for trying his best night in and night out...slumps happen...u can't always be great "it's part of the game of baseball"..one were ur only supposed to succeed 3 times out of 10 at best!...so if i was A-Rod i would give a big **** you to all those New Yorkers and New Jersey people!

I don't think it's the real Yankee fans who are being ARod, just the guys who have no idea about baseball. Furthermore, I think a lot of this goes back to the contract. That deal made a lot of people angry, and I don't think anything ARod does will be enough to convince who don't think anyone deserves that much money.
As for him being "sooooo wonderful," as you so sarcastically mention, do you really think he's not?
