I can't remember that they have any team that has been able to qualify for all the races (34 to date) in 2007. As I remember only Blaney and Jarrett were guaranteed spots at the start of the season, but as I recall both of these drivers have misssed races.

I am tired of beiong shown how a valve blows, it was kinda cool the first time, but come on how many times do I gotta see it? TNT was alright there at the end, when they got rid of all the commercials. The cut-away thing where the race was in view almost all the time was good. But ABC is all commercials. Like week before last they had 12 min of commercials then back to teh race to let you know it was a caution, didn't say who what or why, then 6 more minutes of commercials!! Or a few weeks ago when they pre-empted the race to have thier big premier night!! They signed on to show the race.. so show the race already.

I kept hearing on Saturdays Bush race that 2 cars were penalized for having illegal lugnuts. I hane not heard anything else on this. Does anyone know what they were refering to?? I really want to know. I have searched all over the Nascar.com page, yahoo and several other pages with no reference to the "illegal" lugnuts. As long as they were holding the tire on...whats the problem?

it seems like you have to watch the Busch series these days to see any action. In Nextel Cup, the same guys win every week, there are no crashes - it's like watching a pitcher's duel in baseball.

Good thing for split tv, but if you didn't have a tv where you could watch 2 different channels in the latter part of the season. Say your driver didn't make the chase and you had a second sport passion like a NFL team. What would you be watching?

On a second fold, split screen watchers, same question. What channel is the sound on? Nascar or second passion?

Jimmy is in 2nd place with a 15 point lead over Gordon in the 7th position . Jimmy moves into 1st and wins with a 30 point lead over Gordon who finished 7th . Where did he get 15 points for 1 spot . I know how the points are devided (1st thr 5th, 6th thru 10th and so on) but I cant get it to add up to 30 points .

C'mon. The guy is a vulture. Whenever someone dominates but can't finish, JJ is there to sneak away with the trophy.

And NASCAR doesn't understand why ratings are down and attendance is shriveling.

Don't give me you "you've gotta be there at the end" or "he comes on when it matters" crap. It's flimsy and you know it.

This year's rookie crop was unimpressive. Juan Pablo Montoya and David Ragan were mediocre, Paul Menard was consistent but didn't get many good runs, David Reutimann was with crummy equipment most of the year, AJ Allmendinger was just horrible for most of the year, and Brandon Whitt disappeared after his team went to the Busch series.

Next year's rookies are Dario Franchitti, Patrick Carpentier, Regan Smith, Sam Hornish, Jr., Jaques Villeneuve, and potentially a few others (Almirola, Lamar, McDowell, Wise, Wood, Ambrose are a few). How will they compare to the 2007 rookies?

I think they will be about the same. Franchitti for Rookie of the Year about 20th in points, Carpentier runner-up, about 24th in points. Smith 3rd, around 25th in points, Hornish, Jr. 4th, about 30th in points, Villeneuve last, about 36th-40th in points,

I think Nascar is going down the drain. The tv ratings are down and the coverage sucks. I think this is due to Brian France comin in makin all these ridiculous changes. Like the chase is a load of BS, the COT is crap and the rules are retarded. Also now they are determined to go global and its like they are ashamed of there roots and the South. Its like they think everyone here is a bunch inbred racist rednecks and its just not true. I'm from the south and I'm not like this at all. Anyways I believe that if Nascar keeps this up it will eventually be dead and people won't watch it anymore. Do ya'll agree?

I am a novice NASCAR fan who entered a pool at work. Right before the "Chase", twelve of us drew names out of a hat. I lucked out and drew Jimmie Johnson. After his victory today, where are he and Jeff Gordon sitting point-wise? The only figures I can find online are prior to today's race. I don't quite understand the points system. And if someone could explain that to me as well, I'd really appreciate it.

gordon(my favorite) would be 439 points ahead if it werent for this dumb chase.

and when he wolud've won the cup this year, it would be #6, because he would,ve won the first year of the chase.

now jonson(i hate him and chad knaus) may win the title with a season nowhere even near as good as jeffs

this is just messed up

A. Chad Knaus. Very technical, serious, you come in early every day and you pretty much call all the shots.

OR

B. Steve Letarte. You're more personable. You involve the driver more in the decisions than a guy like Knaus does. Your day starts a little later. you do things a little more by feel.

Which one would you be more like?

Why is everyone crying about the chase format? How many times has a team in other sports had the best record and still loses in the playoffs? You can think of this too, if Nascar was run by the NFL Gordon and Johnson would have been suspended themselves for using performance enhancing materials (ie illegal cars).
