This year's rookie crop was unimpressive. Juan Pablo Montoya and David Ragan were mediocre, Paul Menard was consistent but didn't get many good runs, David Reutimann was with crummy equipment most of the year, AJ Allmendinger was just horrible for most of the year, and Brandon Whitt disappeared after his team went to the Busch series.

Next year's rookies are Dario Franchitti, Patrick Carpentier, Regan Smith, Sam Hornish, Jr., Jaques Villeneuve, and potentially a few others (Almirola, Lamar, McDowell, Wise, Wood, Ambrose are a few). How will they compare to the 2007 rookies?

I think they will be about the same. Franchitti for Rookie of the Year about 20th in points, Carpentier runner-up, about 24th in points. Smith 3rd, around 25th in points, Hornish, Jr. 4th, about 30th in points, Villeneuve last, about 36th-40th in points,

I think Montoya has done pretty well considering he has spent most of his career in single seat race cars. I think David Reutimann is a good driver with a horrible team. David Ragan is very young and probably just needs a little more time. Allmendinger is a road racer and should have stayed in Champ Car.

I think Sam Hornish will be a repeat of Allmendinger. I think it will be interesting to see how Franchitti and Carpentier do. They are both good drivers, but we'll just have to see how they transition to stock cars. I think Michael McDowell will be a very good Nascar driver someday along with Collin Braun as well. I like Jon Wood a lot, but it seemed to me like he did better driving for Roush than he has driving for the family team.

I'd say one of these guys might make the chase..I'm very familiar with Jacques Villeneuve since I followed him in F1 when I was living in Europe, I wish he were going to be in better equipment, but this guy can drive...He might do it...I think Villeneuve or Carpentier could have a great shot atleast winning 1 race.. All Jacques needs is seat time, he is a master of everything he does..We might see some of these guys be better than Juan Pablo.. Going to be interesting next yr..I'd say Jacques, Patrick or Dario for rookie of the yr..

I am going with Sam Hornish Jr. winning the rookie of the yr, but it won't be pretty. There will be no JPM's or Hamlin's in 2008. Regan Smith might be a good choice as well. Those will be the two going for it. Sam will have something good. Kurt Busch. Rodger Penske can take the points from Kurt and give them the the #77 for Sam next year to make sure he gets into the first five races. (Kurt has the past champions spot if needed)

Dario, Regan and Jacques are the only ones I can see having any level of success next season. Hornish hasn't even managed to make a race up to this point.

Seeing as how Hornish couldnt qualify for races in 2007 I believe the 2008 Rookies will be just as bad as the 2007 rookies and probably worse!!!!

i honestly dont see them being able to do worse than the rookies did this year. i very disappointed that we didnt have any rookies like we did with hamlin last year or anything close. i definitely hope that they will be some good rookies next year. this year was just a dissapointment.

JPM has done as good as he could do his rookie year. I think he'll be someone to watch next year

I dont think the 2008 (ROY) drivers will be any better than this years. Pretty bad if you ask me.
