gordon(my favorite) would be 439 points ahead if it werent for this dumb chase.

and when he wolud've won the cup this year, it would be #6, because he would,ve won the first year of the chase.

now jonson(i hate him and chad knaus) may win the title with a season nowhere even near as good as jeffs

this is just messed up

The Chase is the worst thing that ever could have happened to NASCAR. Prime example, this year. It appears as though Gordon will be knocked out of yet another championship because of the Chase (the first in 2004 when Kurt Busch won). If the system was good enough for Petty and Earnhardt, then why did they have to change it? For ratings? Give me a break. I don't care who the driver is, be it Gordon, Johnson, Jr., Busch(s), Harvick, Stewart, etc., if you dominate for 26 races, you shouldn't lose the Championship because someone wants to fill their pockets a little more. Taking nothing away from Jimmie Johnson because he is one of the best drivers to ever take down a window net and also a great teammate to Jeff, but this was not his championship (notice the "was" because it seems as though he will be the one with the crown in two weeks). If that is the case, I am completely through with NASCAR forever. Politics and money ruins everything.

I agree with PapaBill. It is a crock of crap. The fact that they have already changed the 'rules' of the chase to ensure more drivers make it is proof enough. They will just keep changing it until it suits their needs I guess, and then what is the point really? Seems to me if it was just left alone, no Chase format, everyone has more of a fair shot. Of course there are going to be drivers that leap out ahead of the pack - but so what? It's like NASCAR is trying to be the NFL or something, and this is their version of 'playoffs'. But not all sports can have their championship determined the exact same way. It just doesn't work.
The same teams will always make the Chase, which is why it's crap, and should have been left alone.
This NASCAR fan hates the chase and would love it if it went back to the old points system.

Not fond of the Chase myself, Phil.
And, not just because I'm a Gordon fan.
If they're going to keep doing this, they should at least acknowledge the true winner in actual points.
At least last year, it really was Johnson.

Look on the bright side: there are still 3 races left, he's only 30 behind, & he has a better record at Phoenix & Miami than Johnson does.

The chase blows. It is a way to let certain teams win a championship. But NASCAR has started playing politics that have alienated teams and fans.Top 35 in owners points or provisionals all a crock of crap. You can bank that the same half dozen teams are in it every year.
The chase is just a dog and pony show.

Phil, I feel your pain.

This will cheer you up.

Gordon earned a little respect today. You know what he was mad at? It wasn't the Chase. It was about getting his rearend spanked by JJ, again, just when it matters most.

For that, I will give him his due. He took it like a man.

He might pull this thing Cup thing out yet, don't give up.

Hope you don't mind though. I'm not a Johnson fan, but I'm pulling for him anyway. Nine wins and 3 in a row in the Chase ain't chump change.

It is what it is. There has been more than one "victim" in previous years due to chase format. Jimmie would have had his first win a few years back, and last year would have been #2 if not for chase format. Jeff is not the only victim. They all know the rules going into it. Just accept it, because all the drivers have.

I can't stand the "CHASE" Up-dating standins pretty much every lap. Gordon would be going for his 6th championship if it weren't for the chase & I ain't belly aching either, it's a fact if Jr or Stewart were in Gordon's shoes, you would hate the chase too.

If I were Jeff Gordon I'd be fighting mad...he had such a huge pts lead and the way its going he is going to loose it, I'm not a Gordon Fan, but I'd be pissed...I think this entire chase thing sucks...its simple..I don't like it, I also hate the 35 owners point crap as well...Nascar please fix this mess you have created...

I agree with Jessica....Not about the chase points system, everybody knew how the system worked, at the beginning and thats just the way it works out. I don't like Jeff or Jimmie but if one of them has too win I would rather Gordon win it. But I do agree that they spend way too much time on Jimmie and Jeff. There are 43 cars in the field not just 2. I also was surprised that Kyle was aloud to run as good as he did...Usually when he starts to do well Hendrick comes on his radio and tells him to back off.

There was nothing wrong with the old system it was good enough for King Richard & Dale Sr. and everyone else back then --It is good enough for all drivers and owners NOW!!!!
