First off, that's a lot of laps on a 1 1/2 mile track. Second, he had a great car ALL weekend and race but had fallen back only because he pitted when others stayed out on an earlier caution. Third, the 48 team has pretty much done that same thing many times this year "without getting caught cheating". Why does ANY of that surprise you, they have been doing that for almost 6 years now? No crew chief does a better job of adjusting to changing track conditions than Chad Knaus and JIMMIE JOHNSON has the best average finish at Texas Motor Speedway so there is no need to have to cheat. Besides, what you call cheating is merely the best in the business pushing the envelope of what NASCAR will allow them to do. If you think that Chad and HMS are the only ones that do that you are naive.

The track temperature fell about 30 degrees over the last hour. Cars set up to run on the hot track (bush, truex, etc.) didn't perform as well as the ones set up for the cooler track. The 48 team set up to run great at the end, and just made laps for the first 3 hours of the race.

Fifty laps is a lot of racing left. Are you serious with this question?? There was only fifteen cars on the lead lap with fifty laps left to go, so the odds with a fast car were pretty much in anbody's favor. Also, he only ran past the top ten toward the beginning of the race when he took four tires and most everybody else only took two. Other than that he ran in the top ten most of the race. I think you should get your facts straight before you accuse someone of cheating.

This cheating stuff is getting alittle old.......Jimmie Johnson is a great driver, has a great crew chief, he is the best there is with pit strategy, Chad is awesome..Just because they win alot it doesn't mean they are cheating...They are just the most dominate "Team", winning races takes great people, and that what the 48 team has "Great People", and they get it done.. I just hope Tony Eury Jr, learns what it takes so he can be the same as Chad next yr when Dale Jr gets there..

Dale Jr & HMS in 2008

I keep hearing things about the 24 and 48 cheating. I am no fan of HMS, but all I hear is they cheat and yet no one is specific about how they are cheating. Both cars were penalized before Sonoma for making modifications on the COT which NASCAR deemed illegal. Both drivers were docked 100 points and the crew chiefs were fined $100,000, suspended for 6 races, and put on probation. With that kind of scrutiny, NASCAR would have found something else if they were cheating. When you ask a question specify exactly what the violation is so we can all know.

It's all good, just a part of racing !! Jimmie CAN drive a racecar though ! even a FORD man like myself can't deny that . See the way he sat back, after that 1st duel with Matt.
Cooled his tires back down, then made that final run. That's a smart driver/crew chief. Personally, I think the #48 is a better
driver,than the #24 !! 4-REAL. But... only time will tell ???

OK here is NASCAR 101 It is called strategy, 48 took 4 tires and 17 took 2 as did most of the rest of the field. JJ knew he could run it up there he just waited. and when everyone took 2 rights he took 4 and that is how a race is won. Look for Junior to be in the top next year. HMS will get him his championship.

I'm not a fan of the 48, but I don't think they are cheating!
The 48 team is just that good. The rest of the teams had better get with it or they'll dominate next year too!

I was following the race online and Johnson was in the top ten from lap 200 (when I started to track it) to the end. He might have dropped to 15th for one lap due to a pit stop, but when all the other drivers cycled through their stops, he would be right back near where he was before the stop. No cheating, sorry.
