I know y i dislike him, not 4 lack of skill, not because ppl think he is gay, but because a few years back he won a race and in his post race interveiw he did nothing but complain about his car and crew. Come on he won for gods sake, bu the is a good driver and no I dont wanna see him win, but thats not because he's "gay", but because i don't like how he handeled that, and I always want Dale Jr to win, So why do you hate him?

Who ever picks the right driver before 8:00pm EST will be my "best answer" Pick a top 3 to have a better chance... like if 3 people say the same driver and he wins, i'll go with your 2nd and 3rd picks to see how they scored....

I don't understand how you can have a favorite driver. I hear this talk a lot- but it just doesn't make sense to me.

I can see if someone says they like Larry Bird more than Magic Johnson, or Ali more than Tyson. These atheletes are highly accomplished, but also represent tremendous diffierences in style and idiom.

But NASCAR drivers? Don't they all pretty much do the same thing? Maybe there's a little bit of room for personal style, but not much- the margin of error is too small for it!

So you people with a "favorite driver", help me understand, please. What makes them your favorite?

I just went to my first NASCAR race and I'm a little lost on how some of it works. I understand the Lucky Dog rule, but I noticed that when the pace car was out there were some cars on the outside following the pace car and then some of them were on the inside and able to pass some of the others. I always thought that passing was prohibited on the track when there was a caution flag (except in pit). I just would like to know all I can about the sport, but I'm having troubles finding out details other than the regulations of the cars and qualifications. I'd like to know more about positions and the actual race itself. If anyone can help me please do. Thanks!

Why does everyone make such a big deal over Dale Earnhardt?
I'm puzzled!

I always see tacky redneck Earlhardt bumber stickers on cars and trucks.
So what, . he won some races. It's not like it takes talent to race cars. Give a person a few weeks of training and they could win car races too. The people with real talent are Actors, Musicians, Artist, Football, Basketball, Baseball Players. They don't hide behind a steering wheel and let a machine produce their talent.
I have an idea..maybe I could be talented too!
I can press play to hear Fleetwood Mac on my CD player.
Maybe then, they could put me in the media and news claiming that I produce great music. I could be called Fleetwood Mac! After all, I did use a machine to produce the music.

What made Dale Earnhardt earn the status of being great?

so with the new drivers, new cars, new rules, the impala instead of the monte carlo, and all the changes that mngmt. has made im really thinking about not watching anymore or going to races. too many changes have turned me off. its all a big media fest anymore and its just not very focused on racing it seems. is nascar trying to be more like F1? gawd i hope not. any opinions?

I know they own Cup and Busch teams. I'm not sure what other teams they own. I'm wondering why the need a "President of Global Operations"?

I actually have trouble watching as it simply looks clunky .... like a Chrysler K-Car from the 1980's. In contrast, the current car looks so much sleeker..... like a race car should (at least in my mind). I love the fact that the aero effect requires the competitors to be part driver, part pilot.... always being aware of the fact that the car can, at any time, decide to take flight and totally surprise the viewers/fans. It is the invisible force that makes the current cars and the current races (especially the restrictor plate races on super speedways) so incredible. I wonder if the COT will hurt viewership because so many other race fans feel the same way I do.....

He's a good guy and an ok driver, but I believe a new driver in that car would do better. Although, I don't think any Petty car can win.
