Unfortunately, you are right. I love Kyle as a person and I use to pull for him. I think Kyle realizes it to. Petty Enterprises seems to be trying to get things better, but that's something that's going to take time. Racing is in their blood and it's what they love to do. I will have to give them credit for Victory Junction and continuing to race helps them get the word out and raise money.

There are not nearly enough gentle men drivers and too many hot heads. If Kyle retired there would be one less gentle man. Kyle is a good, safe driver. And P E is committed to come changes to make the two teams better, things like moving the shop nearer to Charlotte. Loomis is a big asset to the overall operation. Labonte can help them make the next rung up the ladder. If the 43 and the 45 can finish the year ranked higher than last year, then they are moving in the right direction. Ft Worth was terrible for both cars. We'll see about Phoenix. But I would hate to see Kyle retire simply because his calm sportsmanship on the track would be sorely missed.

I believe that Petty Enterprises needs some new blood. I think Kyle is a much better manager than driver at this point and a young talent to go along with the veteran experience of Bobby Labonte would be a great combination. However, he has been better this season than last, so perhaps he still has some Petty Power still in him.

The history of Petty Enterprise is the history of NASCAR.
The situation at P E and with Kyle is more than the average fan sees.
Kyle is activly looking for a replacement driver.Yes he and several other drivers are past their prime but the fact they are still compeditive drivers and will make every attempt to win.
As for chances to win at Petty, yes they have the equipment and the ability to win. They will not be the dominating force they were in the 50's-60's-70's,but they will continue to race as compeditively as they can for as long as they can.

I don't know what a valid argument to disagree would be. Kyle is not going to be driving full time this year so don't be surprised if he is out of the 45 for good either next year or 2009 (it may take him another season to ween himself off of racing and to groom a suitable replacement). He is a much better person than he is a driver and his attention is spread across too many activities other than racing. His causes are worthy and could use his full attention, that's where his strength lies. I think he will be a good commentator (at least better than Rusty) and Victory Junction just keeps growing so it is time for him to retire.

No what better way to get money for the camp that to have a car in the race. I am sure there are people out there who think a Petty should race no matter if is just out for a drive

i think of the two drivers have been incorrect interior the way they reacted after the incident, yet Denny replaced into the vehicle interior the lower back. Its his interest to attend and notice, or a minimum of extra careful while attempting to bypass. His movements took them the two out of the race. by skill of asserting that Petty isn't racing for something significant, Denny is faulty. Kyle desires to be interior the precise 35, Denny desires to be interior the precise 5 to stay aggressive interior the CHASE. the two had a project yet Denny's movements on the song ruined the two of their days. Kyle did no longer ought to the touch Hamlin to get his element for the time of, yet those adult men are jointly on the line the final public of the 12 months. There are guaranteed to be some tempers on and stale the song.

i guess ken shrader and sterling marlin should retire too, just cause a driver obviously can no loner win races don't mean they should or have to retire on the other hand a driver who fails to qualify for 6 races in a row-Michael Waltrip should seriously think about hanging up the helmet and gloves

I've thought so for quite a while.
He was talking about retiring until his son Adam died. That prompted him to keep going. They say he could be successful at anything including stand up comedy! The guy is ultra talented. The Victory Junction camp is just one example of that.
I miss the "Hot Wheels" car.

I think Kyle is ready to step away from driving. He has too many irons in the fire, trying to run PE, Victory Junction and now his upcoming broadcast duties. Roush has to get rid of a team in 2009. It would be great to see David Ragan come over to PE and get mentored by Bobby Labonte.
