I'm tired of seeing people use invalid measuring criteria. You can't use wins, as Richard Petty competed in seasons that had many more races. You also can't use championships, as the scoring system is different than it was when Petty and Earndhardt won their 7 Cup titles. Not to mention the competition is much stiffer today than it was in the past.

I can't think of a valid measuring system, and I'm curious to see what ideas you guys come up with!

What would happen if Jeff Gordon took out Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Jr. took out Jeff by accident? Who would win the championship?

In most of the races where the COT has been used this year brakes have been an issue. Even at some larger tracks where I've not heard of brake problems before.
What is it about the COT that causes the driver to use more brake getting into the corner than with the older car? Or is it just that most the teams can't get the set-up right?

Once again we have a debris on track yellow with 10 laps to go. I just finished reading an article on the Nascar homepage that questions Nascars ability to cut all ties with the WWF's antics. With 10 laps to go and J.Gordon doomed for shore with his tire rub, Nascar called a yellow because of an endangered West Nile Mosquito nesting on turn 4. Amazing eyesight or were thay worried that if there was nobody to even chase JJ for the title that the TV's would be turned to a much more exciting form of entertainmrent like GOLF!!!!

I LOVE NASCAR. I have been a racing fan close to 40 years now.
I have noticed in the NASCAR discussion forums, Dale Sr. being discussed as if he were some God. The recurring theme has been "he was the Greatest racecar driver in the history of racing".
These so called "fans" perpetrating this falsehood are rabid about it.
Tthey obviously know NOTHING about racing, and suddenly after Dale Sr. was tragically killed, God rest his soul, suddenly everyone is a racing expert.
So lets keep it real. If they REALLY knew anything about NASCAR, you would know that Richard Petty is the UNDISPUTED king of racing, with 200 Winston cup wins, and in ONE SEASON won 27 of 48 races. Earnhardt in no way could ever have had the claim of being the "greatest".
Now, if you still believe he was the GREATEST, then move over to the left with the group that believes Millie Vanillie were greater than Elvis and the Beatles.

more than likely Johnson will win this years championship, because of the chase rules. and Jeff Gordon also would have won the championship in 2004, if it wasn't for the chase. so if you think about it, if there wasn't a chase, Gordon would be on his way to becoming a 6 time chamionship winner. being only one cup alway from tying Dale Sr and Richard Petty... that is why i think Gordon must hate the chase.

Is seem lately that Truex is the only one who aint putting up with all the Hendrick wins. He's been passing Gordon and Johnson like he's the one who runs up front, and he likes it there. He missed his second consecutive pole, by 7000th of a second. Jimmie Johnson is the monster that rocks, but even Greg Biffle don't like it.

It's been reported on Jayski that Andretti will be back with BAM next year... but their sponsour...

"Morgenthau said he is a partner in a computer company that has patented what he calls a revolutionary process of sponsoring race cars. Next season, BAM plans to have 5,000 associate sponsors who each pay approximately $5,000 to be on the car for the full season."

Does that mean they will have 5000 decals on the freakin car?!

and being a Gordon fan that is at the front of my mind, but ive been saying it for 4 years.

to me its not fair to whoever builds the 200-300 point lead, they worked that hard and it gets taken away.
