He would have hated it. Sr. was a hard worker. He believed in going out and racing 36 races and determining a winner that way. Not racing 26...resetting the points...then handing a title to some guy who gets on a streak. Sr would only be a 3 time champ if the chase was used back then.

Considering that in 22 consecutive years and under the current format, he would have qualified for The Chase, a 10 race dash with a Cup on the line, he would have loved it.

He was a natural born Chaser.

Much like Jimmie Johnson, who in 4 Chases is 9 points and 18th or better away from 3 out of 4.

Do I believe if he raced under the Chase Format he would have won 7 Cups?

More than likely and probably more.

As far as Junior's season, he'd be glad it's nearly over, pissed beyond belief but happy Junior will have an owner who will be at the track as often as possible, over the next 5 years.

The "soft walls", I'm certain the other drivers would care about that more than Earnhardt.

I don't think he would have cared for it too much at all. Dale Sr. was all about being consistent. I don't think that he'd appreciate seeing 26 races worth of work erased and the playing field essentially leveled between the 1st and 12th place drivers.

I have said many times he would probably hunt that punk *** France down and ring his neck.
Then I would hope he would say Brian you little butt munch lover I am going to start my own series and we are NOT going to play with any of your idiotic rules that you have come up for your little grade school newbies.
We are going back to old school where you bump me your getting it back.
When the end of the race is here then the race ends
and if you can't make a race on your time then you don't make it.
We will do it right the way it always has been and worked. And yes you can be proud that you have totally screwed up what your Grandfather and father have worked and gave there whole lives on. Way to go you freaking Jerk Off France and all your little newbie buddies too.

I think he would have been against it. Look what it has done to Jeff Gordon, Gordon would be about to win his 6th championship without the chase.

I think the chase is getting to far away from what made NASCAR great. I think the original chase (2004-2006) was better.

NASCAR is about consistency. Keep the extra points for winning a race, but go back to Top 10 only and none of the seeding stuff.

Not sure if he would have liked it or not. But if he were still alive it would sure be more interesting, he'd be racing his tail off with some good ole bumping, and banging, with the get outta my way pretty boys, theres a cup to win...But since he was taken from us way before his time, we never got to see the great one in any of the chase format races.. R.I.P great one...

He would not have said anything. He rarely got into negotiations about the "politics" of racing...he was there to race and did so under the regualations that he was told to. I was not a fan of his...but I have to say that he was a class act!

i think he would have mixed feelings.....he liked the competetion part and they take that oyt of it when the chase starts because people don't wanna wreck the fricking guys in the chase...i say oh well it's racing...**** happens...get over it...and i think Dale would say the same as i did
