I have heard a lot of people in R & S stating that gays shouldn't be allowed to teach in the schools because it is against God. If that's the case, why do you not make a stink about teachers that fornicate, drink on the weekends, smoke, don't go to church... etc, etc? I didn't realize that one sin was greater than the other. What are you thoughts?

Even though I'm Catholic some religious words and phrases make me squirm and roll my eyes! Some include:

Gospels
Savior
“Lord and Christ”
“According to the bible…”
Rejoice

What are some of yours, if any?

I see books written by Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens that state an argument against the mass groupthink of Christianity that would have had them thrown off the stage 20 years ago, but today are welcomed and in some quarters even embraced.

Then on the other hand you see the political landscape further flowing towards Evangelical beliefs. The Republican party has for years been married to the church, but now even the Democratic Presidential candidates have to do the dog and pony show of attending faith conferences, squinting their eyes and praying to the Blond haired blue eyes messiah that wants to give us hugs. We may even elect a man who wears magic underwear to the temple and is part of a church that didn't view blacks as capable of handling elder duties until the 1970's. But, hush hush, we wouldn't want to press him about that. That would be offensive.

Are we getting better or worse? Or perhaps just more divided into competing groups?

you dont reap what you sow
if that was true, then please explain why people who treat people with kindness, love, consideration, respect etc
often get treated the opposite by people
and people who are just downright mean often are treated with much love and respect

I could provide a long list of examples, but I dont want to get all personal, please tell me ''how reaping what you sow'' applies to those who have sowed beautifully and gotten quite the opposite!!

That He is the way, the truth, and the light. He also made it clear that He is all suficcient for our salvation. despite the fact that He did everything to secure our salvation, why, in your opinion, do some say that it takes more than faith; it takes works too. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it clear that there is no room for our works in God's plan of salvation for us. I welcome serious answers and comments, thanks

"7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel."

I know every Christian denomination seems to interpret this differently, I was just wondering what exactly they are. For example, I've heard Jehovah Witnesses interpret this as only 144,000 go to heaven but what would that mean for the rest of everybody else. Also are only direct descendents of Israel going to heaven?

Or does this passage have nothing to with heaven at all?

While I appreciate and welcome the Athiest viewpoint, phrases like "It means absolutely nothing to me" are not helpful, (though I know it's unavoidable for some people to type it)

Thank you in advance

Doesn't it make you sad when so-called "Christians" post answers that are unloving and judgemental? Some even go as far as to say that God doesn't love homosexuals or any other type of sinner. Don't they realize WE ALL are sinners and in need of a Savior? Then, we all get labeled as hypocrites. I prefer to admit that I'm no better than the next person, and certainly have no right to judge others, just to share what God has done for me. Please share your thoughts, and God bless you.

Are you absolutely certain that God is real...?

Do you sometimes have doubts but manage to ignore them.. ?

Do you secretly dis-believe in God's existence...?

...or are you wise enough to see the shortcomings of the first three groups and identify yourself by one of several names that mean you're a "non-believer."

Your answers please...

It seems that a lot of legitimate questions get removed because someone is offended...

Athiests don't think we should believe in anything yet they are more than happy to exchange gifts at Christmas.

Christians are always preaching about being forgiving and yet they will turn on their own church members at the drop of a hat.

My son has a jewish friend who tells us we should feel sorry for him because he's Jewish and constanty persecuted. Way to stand proud for your faith there...

My Muslim friend demands that we recognize the differences in our faiths and his right to pray when he's supposed to, yet he gets irritated if we pray prior to eating our lunch.

Sometimes I wonder how long it will be before they tell us that we can no longer worship as we please. Wait a minute. They have done that.

Your thoughts?

Why does it protect against protect against religious discrimination?

Many conservative Christians complain that homosexuality is immutable, and therefore should not be considered a protective category in anti-discrimination law. While I reject that assertion; it's all too well documented that homosexuality is immutable, let's entertain the belief for a moment.

We do know that race is immutable. Except of course in the case of white Hispanics. A white child of Hispanic descent could be adopted when quite young by a white non-Hispanic family. What would they be then?

Anyway, let's assume that race is immutable. Are immutable groups the only ones protected by anti-discrimination law? Religion is certainly a protected category. Is religion immutable? I know FAR more people who have changed religious affiliation than the extreme minority of LGBT folk who have made the extraordinary claim that they have been "cured".

If religion is mutable, should it be a protected category?

Keeping the Sabbath day holy. It's still a law on the books, right? So why do nice Christian folks get out of church and head down to Denny's or Bigboys and have lunch? Why are the malls filled with people dressed up fresh out of church, shopping? Sure, they are not working on their Sunday, but they are causing other people to work on Sunday to serve them. Money is being exchanged--that is the token of "work." Don't you consider that you are relying on a class of people to serve you, and that makes you "elevating" yourself above them, which is also wrong?

Consider all the people who are scheduled to work on Sundays at malls, grocery store, ect. Sure, they would still be there to serve the people who don't care to follow the commandment, but why do you participate? Stores would not stay open on Sundays if they didn't get your business on Sundays!

I have seen a few christians offer that one evidence of the strength of the logic of apologetics is that christianity has endured 2000 years of people trying to disprove it.

Now, the way i see it, skepticism and atheism are both remarkably NEW ideologies.

first of all, up until 300 years ago, atheism as a philoshical view was so virtually non-existant that there did not even exist a word for someone who did not believe in god. The word "Atheist" first meant someone who did whatever they wished without concern of god's laws and such.

And even though atheism has existed as a philosophy for the last few hundred years, the ideas and arguments that argue for atheism (textual criticism, empiricism, philosophical arguments, ect.) has been given almost no exposure to the common man.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (This one shows that we do not need to confess to a priest but to one another.)

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (confessing our sins whether to God or another helps us to be purified and to be made righteous.)

We've read the accounts of Jesus' encounters with women such as the woman at the well, the woman with the issue of blood, the woman caught in the act of adultery, and after His resurrection. How have these as well as other interactions between women and the Son of God spoken to you about your relationship with Him?

can billions of people across the world attest to their faith in different deities, even to the extent where they're willing to die for their beliefs? If Jesus is really the only path to true spiritual fulfillment, then how can so many others on this Earth claim to be spiritually fulfilled? Shouldn't their religions simply not work because they're not true? But this seemingly isn't the case.

This guys father had a cardiac arrest and he took him to the hospital. When the hospital staff took his father in and he was outside worried, a christian priest sitting nearby came to him and told him to accept Jesus for his father to be "saved"! So this guy punched him in the face!
Instead of showing genuine human concern or just leaving the person alone, the christian was "witnessing" to him at a vulnerable time!
These are the kind of incidents that christians highlight around the world as "unprovoked"attacks on christians without revealing the full details of the incident!

I have some Christian acquaintances who will hurt someone by spreading rumors, insulting them, or embarrassing them in public. They will then ask God for forgiveness, without so much as apologizing to the person that they hurt. When I asked them about this, they seemed to be of the opinion that gaining the forgiveness of God was more important than gaining the forgiveness of the people that they hurt. Is this a standard Christian belief, or do most Christians believe differently?

I have been touched by Jesus and I have let Him into my heart. I have personally witnessed the difference He can make and how He can change a person.

I know that we should respect people's decisions, but it still bothers me sometimes that people refuse to accept the Truth.

The Holy Spirit wants to fill them, but they do not let it. I believe the only way to be saved from Hell is to be a Christian. Without accepting Jesus and His sacrifice, it was in vain.

No unclean thing can enter the Kingdom of Heaven. We all deserve Hell, but God so loved the world that if we open our hearts and accept Jesus, our sin will be wiped clean.

I want everyone to go through this experience. I know they will not though. This makes me sad because I do not want others to go to Hell. If I meet someone who is not a Christian, I try to set a good example and I do not force my religion on them, but it is hard some times.

Do you ever feel this way?

God bless.
