God gives different people different challenges.
He makes some people:
+ Very tall
+ Very short
+ Very intelligent
+ Mentally challenged
+ Handicapped
. + Blind
. + Deaf
. + Many, many other
Some people have other challenges:
+ Asthma
+ Migraines
+ Allergies
+ Overbearing parents
And some people are homosexual. Where this challenge falls in the mix of all the other challenges, I am not wise enough to know.
Why does God give anyone challenges?
Why does God allow any suffering?
I, once again, am not wise enough to answer these questions.
In the Gospel of John, chapter 9, when asked why a man was born blind, Jesus said, "It is so that the works of God might be made visible through him."
Can homosexuals live a life "so that the works of God might be made visible through" them? Yes.
Hopefully those of us with other challenges will allow them this chance.
With love in Christ.

They do not it believes that we are disordered and have a built in tendency to moral evil that heterosexual folks do not have and that we are stuck in a transientory stage that should mature into heterosexuality. That despite what ALL the credible phsyciatric and physcological proffessions say. Your question is not offensive in least it is a well intended one and shows a geniune curiosity.Homosexuals are here as a result of natural process,s and are a part of nature. Homosexuality is more than just a physical thing, it is about love and being loved, the only difference is, it is the same gender. The arguments from those who think that it is wrong and that they are disordered is very similiar to when Christians (including the Vatican) believed that only white anglos were truly human and that Blacks were inferior, that the Native Americans were uncivilized savages and that only their religion was the only true one. If this sounds strong I apologize but after lived through segregation and the civil rights movement their position is eirily similiar to those posited by the rascist's back then.

I don't think Catholic teachings ever specifically addressed this issue.
But generally, any sex outside of marriage is in a sin in the Catholic church, be it heterosexuality or anything .... else.
I have a question - why are all these God fearing holy rollers so obsessed with homosexuality? I hear more about supposed sexual "deviancy" from all of these "Christians" than I do from anyone else. How come? (A little too curious, maybe?)
Is this the main concern of the Evangelical movement - two dudes together? Doesn't God (and His followers) have bigger fish to fry? I would think there's worse problems in the world than this sort of thing!!!!

MIDGE, your wrote that official view of the Catholic Church on homosexuality is that it is disordered. And CATHY you quoted the 3 paragraphs of the Catechism:
What about 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ?
“Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, ….nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, …will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Don’t these verses require homosexuals to repent as 1 Corinthians 6: 11 says, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
EDIT: Cathy, I concur with you that 1 Corinthians 6:1-11 passage is about “do not sue the brethren”. However the verse 9-11 states that some of the Corinthians Christians, being homosexuals (unrighteous) were alien to the kingdom of God, but now have been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
If God has redeemed you from unrighteousness (such as homosexuality – verse 10), how dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints. (verse 1).

What if it is a genetic (and I use this word scientifically, not in a mean-spirited way) mutation? As in yes, it is in the genes, but no, God did not create or intend it? Is that even a possibility? I've not seen anyone throw that out there yet. I don't have a problem with such an idea, but I'm open to being proven wrong if such is the case.
Have a great night!

God created people and gave them freedom of choice minus chaos. However many have chosen chaos over a divine direction. In Catholicism they begin with evolution (theistic evolution) so their beliefs will differ significantly from mainline Christianity. In many Catholic dominated countries the quality of human life is sub standard for these reasons. The Vatican are simply dealing with something other than Man made in the image and likeness of God hence some may entertain these existential ideas.

Catholics don't believe that God created homosexuals. They believe that God created humans, and that humans choose to have homosexual relationships.
Most religions that believe homosexuality to be a choice, and unnatural, have yet to explain how a choice made by a person who reasons, can be exhibited by animals in nature. Are animals capable of sin?
Some religions still go so far as to claim that it doesn't happen in nature, but these are eating their words more often. They try to spit out some drivel about a fallen world in the midst of their choking.
Homosexuality is a function of the brain. It's not chosen. It's not created by god. It's simply a part of who some people are.

Wow....you incredibly have an incredible style of time on your arms it type of feels. at first, in case you incredibly examine your bible, " whoever believeth in me shall have ever lasting existence" What does that inform you. Sexual orientation has no longer something to do with it. specific, being gay is a sin in gods eyes, yet he died for our sins and as long as you repent on your day of judgment, you will enter the gates. And in case you certainly are a Christian, then you definitely ought to know that there is in elementary terms a million unforgivable sin...it is balsfamee, ( i'm uncertain I spelled that precise ) yet it is the only sin which you will commit that he won't forgive. Being gay isn't a extensive sin, there are maximum of different issues that folk must be annoying approximately, murderes, newborn molesters, kidnappings, theft, all of those issues have undesirable outcomes. Like I stated, you should plenty time on your arms and who the hell are you opt all of us. You heavily ought to %. the bible lower back up look up the ten commandments and heavily verify your self. My lady pals, nicely maximum of them are gay, they circulate to church, examine the bible and are a number of the main trouble-free and loving people i know. I take offense to all your comments and desire which you get your self some help. attempt a clean hobbie or something.

I'm not sure if you can say that GOD created homosexuals.
It is safe to say that they do exist, and that they truly feel like a woman inside. It's like they're in the wrong body. I do believe that this is some sort of disorder almost like a chemical embalance in mentally distrubed persons, and because of this they will go to heaven. Because this is who they truly are. People who perform homosexual acts out of some sort of sick lust will go to hell, because they are not gay just acting out a perverted act.

No the Church does not think Human's created Homosexuality or "another" created them. The Church does not proclaim to know a reason why homosexuality is. Nor does it condemn homosexuals or the feelings they have, merely the acts of homosexuality. It's entire teaching on homosexuality is contained in 3 paragraphs of the Catechism:
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
To say the Church says anything more on homosexual acts or homosexuality it is not true. Many try to express there personal opinion and others assume it is official teaching.
While the Church condemns homosexual acts, it does not condemn the homosexual for their feelings.
Steve: quite interesting you chose this Scripture passage. because it is about Christians attacking on another. Particularly Christians in Corinth suing one another before pagan judges. But still most of the letter is admonishing attacking one another. And need I remind you in biblical times the term sodomites did not refer to two consenting males engaging in sexual activity instead among the pagan religions of the time young boys were kept as temple prostitutes in Greece and Rome. In Greek religions this was the function of Ganymede, the "cupbearer of the gods," whose Latin name was Catamitus. The term Sodomites refers to adult males who indulged in homosexual practices with these boys. Sodomy in it's biblical context meant Heiros Gamos.
