and the Beginning & and the End? Who is, Was, Who is to come?

The (IS) I am He who lives, The (Was) I am He who WAS DEAD, (Who is to Come) I am alive forever more.

What does it say about the Father in Revelation 4:8, "Holy, holy, holy LORD GOD Almighty which WAS, and is, and is to come."

Why is the FATHER Almighty calling Himself the WAS, which equals WAS DEAD!

"Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island. "

Dear God:
I know that I'm a sinner. I deserve Hell. But You sent Jesus to die for my sins. I believe that He died and rose again. I ask you now to forgive my sins, once an for all. I now receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Personal Saviour. Please come into my heart and save me, Help me to know I am saved and live for You, the rest of my life. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

I don't get it. Some people just think the bible is written by some wacky old guy who died thousands of years ago and other people half-believe in the bible (catholics) and some people go all the way (adventists)

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing" (Ecclesiastes 9:5 RSV)
"For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts; for all is vanity. All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again." (Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 RSV)
"Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.... For David did not ascend into the heavens" (Acts 2:29,34 RSV)
No one has ascended into heaven but He who descended from heaven, the Son of man."
so the Bible says those who are dead have not gone to heaven but are sleeping in the dust! so once again why are so many decieved?? and why is it taught in churches that immediatley after you die you go to heaven or hell???

That is, have you heard believers other believers (of any faith) give reasons for the existence of God, that you believe are bad reasons... and if so, why?

Or are any and all reasons good ones?

Have you, yourself ever had reasons that you now feel were bad ones.

Please explain.

Thanks in advance.

Jewish Rabbis would gladly give their life to save the covenant for their own people and not let it go to the "renegade" Jews who followed Jesus.

Could Rabbi Saul (St. Paul) have sacrificed his life to save the status of the Jews who denied Jesus (by adding paganism into Chritianity) and then making sure it also denied all the laws of God thereby negating the covenant.

.

GEN017:009-10 -- And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. This is my Covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every male child among you shall be circumcised.

GAL005:002 --Behold, I Paul say unto you , that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

Obviously the praying part is not to be taken literally. I just had a conversation with my brother about christianity. He was once a skeptic, and coverted into becoming a believer. Anyway I asked him a series of questions for him to justify or explain the reasons why he believes. His answer, infuriated me! He subscribe to the its "True for me" philosophy. I said well why do you have faith. He replied, "Because that what I believe in." But why? I pressed on. He continued to say that he doesn`t believe everything happens by luck. When I asked him how that postulates the existence of a God he reverted to ,"That`s what I believe in."

How can I have an intelliegent conversation with someone that subscribes to this "It`s true for me" philosophy

We went into a series of circles because he said what he believes is what he believes, for no good reason.
How can I get him to question is faith, and how can I bring him out of the stupidity of religous dogma?
