I don't remember reading that in the Bible. I thinkl some unnice preacher came up with that off-the-wall supposition. My most optimistic idea would be that Jesus was a spaceman and he promised some to come back and ship them outta here.
Does that fit? In any case the Brooklyn Bridge is sold so does anyone need a gold harp?

interpret the bible themselves? Or was the Catholic church right back then? (during the Protestant reformation, when even priests were not allowed to interpret the gospel, just Bishops.)

imo this is a good argument FOR the Catholic church, even though the bible eventually became available to everyone.

In your opinion, do you think some Christians interpret the bible without taking into account several theologically sound principals (such as the original language of the Bible and Judaic Law?)

And given this, should Theology be taught in schools so that we at least avoid useless argument and time-wasting confrontations? (At least, amoung Christian sects?)

Alot of people are claiming that the Jews don't belong in Israel and that they have illegally seized that land. My question is do you think Jews are not Israeli? It has been scientifically proven that Jews share common DNA traits. French Jews and Russian Jews have both been tested and they do share more common DNA than that of the Jew and the host country they live in. So now that we know that Jews are a common race do you think the Jewish religion was brought to them from another country? They have found the Dead Sea scrolls so we know that Jews were in fact from Israel. So does this mean that all Ethnic Jews are extinct and the only Jews alive today are of a different ethnicity and jost adopted the Jewish religion? Or is it possible that the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe are in fact ethnically from the land of Israel.

I heard somewhere the best way mindless, arrogant people can change their attitude is to experience some life-changing event whether it's a serious illness or they lose someone close. Is there any other, not so extreme, way of dealing with a thick-headed, arrogant person?

( It wasn't Einstein, but someone said: 'madness is next to genius as arrogance is next to stupidity'

I said that to a fox hunter once, he didn't like it.)

This is one of the best clean jokes I've seen in a while!
Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.
Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job."
So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.
They moused.
They faxed.
They e-mailed.
They e-mailed with attachments.
They downloaded.
They did spreadsheets!
They wrote reports.
They created labels and cards.
They created charts and graphs.
They did some genealogy reports
They did every job known to man.
Jesus worked with
heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.

This is a serious question.

The primary source for the new earth creationist’s beliefs is the bible. This is the root of the objection to evolutionary theory. I think we can all agree on this. Given that this is the case, how many of them are aware that there are in fact two contradictory accounts of man's creation in genesis?

In genesis chapter one, God creates all the creatures of the earth on the fifth day. On the sixth day, God creates humankind. (Gen. 1:21-30) According to Genesis two however, God creates Adam and THEN all of the plants of the earth, the Garden of Eden and all of the creatures that roam the earth and sky. (Gen. 2:4-20). This is the opposite of the account in genesis one. In one, God makes all life, and then man, but in two, God makes man and then all life.

If you believe in a literal interpretation, how do you rationalize this? Is it possible that the creation story isn't supposed to be interpreted as a verbatim account of how it happened?

I've done so many things that would make him very ashamed and look down on me that I am afraid to even talk to Him, I know I've sinned greatly, my past is my worst enemy and I don't think God has forgiven me for my sins...

I'm in South Eastern Penn (45 minutes from Philly). I am trying to find a store that sells supplies & books of the wiccan/pagan persuation ;) Ya know, in the movies there is always a creepy, powerful bookstore with a witch behind the counter. I know its hollywood, but I thought there would be something tailored for us for real. If no one can help with an actual store, how about a good online site? I'd prefer to see things in person before purchasing though.
Thanks!

I do not see anywhere in the Bible where God may have wanted these divisions in the church. We are the church, we put him in our heart and his spirit guides us, anyways this is how I understand it! You see, I don't want to get wrapped up in the organizations (denominations) rules, I only want to follow what God wants me too. Is there anyone else w/ this problem. Please be nice with your answers, because these are the type of things that stear me away from religion, but not God.
