Are there any Christians on here who have a relationship with Jesus Christ and not just the book.

Do you think there is more to Jesus than just the Bible? Don't you think that all the books of the world would not have room to list his accomplishments.

If your Bible was taken from you would you be able to continue on as a Christian?

I no this is not really a R&S question, but I was just curious...

I'm not saying that I would or wouldn't do it... but i'm just curious

If you loved someone but managed to let them get away because it was your own fault and later realised what a monumental error in judgement you made and wanted to make it right again for worthy reasons...
and you knew they were about to get married...

Would you go to the wedding and object to it?

Obviously anounciating all of the appropriate reasons for doing so of course...

Its commonly believed that saying "oh my God" or "oh God" is taking his name in vain, but is it? What does it really mean to take his name in vain? God isn't even his name, its a title. So would it be correct to say "oh my God" is taking it in vain?

Islam was started by mohammed, budhism was started by budha.....if christianity wasn't based on an historical figure called Jesus Christ - whether or not you believe he was god - then how did it start? Why did they break away from mainstream judaism?

Interestingly, Jesus rebuked a man who addressed him w/ the title "Good Teacher," bc Jesus recognized not himself but his Father to be the standard of goodness.(Mr10:17,18)
However, to measure up to what ppl generally mean when they say that some1 is good, Jesus surely must have been truthful. Indeed, even his enemies acknowledged that he was.---(Mrk12:14)
He himself said that he had a prehuman existence
that he was the unique Son of God,
that he was the Messiah,
the 1 coming was foretold throughout the Hebrew Scriptures.
Either he was what he said or he was a gross impostor,
but neither option allows for the view that he was simply a good man.--John 3:13; 10:36; 4:25,26; Luke 24:44-48.

What do you think of this scripture, what lessons does it teach you? Do you think that it is a good thing to live by? Does anyone know which book of the bible it is from?

"He that revengeth shall find vengeance from the Lord, and he will surely keep his sins [in remembrance]. Forgive thy neighbour the hurt that he hath done unto thee, so shall thy sins also be forgiven when thou dost prayest. One man beareth hatred against another, and doth he seek pardon from the Lord? He showeth no mercy to a man, who is like himself: and doth he ask forgiveness of his own sins? If he that is but flesh nourish hatred, who will intreat for pardon of his sins? Remember thy end, and let enmity cease, [remember] corruption and death, and abide in the commandments. Remember the commandments, and bear no malice to thy neighbour: [remember] the covenant of the highest, and wink at ignorance"

Isaiah 45:7
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I'm posting this as many Christians responded to a previous question by saying that god did not create evil. I got this from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

New Testament scholars aren't agreed as to whether it says anywhere that Jesus ever laughed.

Probably, if he didn't, it was because of his Hebrew heritage. Those old timey Hebrews were long on smiting hip and thigh, and taking whatever their neighbors had, and the OT God seems to have been fairly grim as well.

Leaves a person with the impression those old Hebrews and God just weren't happy unless they were counting dead neighbors and figuring out who gets what.

On second thought, is that really different from modern Christians?

The smiling and laughing thing, I mean?

I asked this in P&S, too. I just don't get the appeal of Pete Wentz? I'm not saying he isn't good looking, I'm just curious as to why so many chicks are naming him as their #1 (or at least top ten) guys. WTF?

And to make this religious: Based on looks, sexiness, attractione, etc, who would you rather hae a date with in Heaven, Pete or Tom?

Weve all heard stories about ignorant people, like pop singer Cat Stevens who had a near death experience and then found religion. We all know its never an intellectual choice, its an emotional choice or a birth choice.

So what about the reverse. What I mean is, I found atheism after I studied evolution in depth. I wasnt looking to become an atheist, I just had a thirst for knoweldge, and fell into it.

The thing is, I dont know how I get out of it now, cause it wasnt an emotional thing. Follow me here? The Genie is out of the bottle...I pulled the curtain back and found a little fat man, no wizard.

I can now tell you why monkeys are still around or why there is some hair on my toe. You might be tempted to say "yea, well you could go back if evolution is disproven". The problem with that is, its no better than saying the same about anything else in science, because the only thing that makes evolution controversersial is religious people, not scientists.

I'm not a believer in reincarnation per se, but I'm just curious. Reincarnation is supposed to be the "recycling" of souls. With all these new people being born, how can Hindu belief explain where these new souls come from?
