(this is sort of religion related since it involves an angel)

i think i would enjoy the movie better if the angel had shown uncle billy how HIS life has meaning. obviously george's life has meaning--he has a good job, a family that loves him, etc. but uncle billy is an alcoholic and the one who lost the money in the first place. i don't think it's all that hard to show george that his life means something, but it would be harder to do the same for uncle billy. i think that would make the movie mean more.

I always pray to god, to give me a faithful loving husband, who has a good head on this shoulders, and two heatly children. and for god to heal my grandpa from cancer. Do think this is too much and selfish.I this with all my heart, and I worry that I wont have this in my life.

We are forewarned that an alien race is coming to earth to enslave us in the most hideous form imaginable. We will be turned into mindless zombies, stripped of every shred of individuality and identity, and worse, our aging process will be halted so that we will exist like this indefinitely. A sort of living-death.

The proof this will happen is absolute. There is no chance of escape, no reprieve, no way to stop it or fight it. When they arrive, you are doomed.

The only option you have is to accept this fate, or commit suicide. The governments of the earth agree that nobody will be forced to suicide, but they highly recommend it to this enslavement.

Which will you choose. Mindless eternity, or killing yourself?

This week I found out that my cousin has cancer, and thank God it is in an isolated space. Anyways, he may need surgery but I'm hoping that with the prayers of the saints that he won't have to have the surgery and that the Lord will send a miracle in the form of healing, but if going through the surgery is what God wants for my cousin, I pray that you all with pray that everything goes well, and that the cancer will be completely stopped.

So let's look at my last question. Pretty much all the answers that Christians provided were that the whole eye thing is a metaphor by Jesus. But truly, would it be efficient to communicate using metaphors? God knows that man is errant, and makes mistakes. Considering that at that day and age, the whole "eye for eye" justice was taken seriously, it's quite possible that people could mistake Jesus' words, and think he was being literal. Why would God risk it? Being omniscient, he could figure out a way to say what he wanted to say without invoking the use of metaphor.

In addition, even if you can tell it's a metaphor, people are going to disagree about what exactly what God/Jesus is using the metaphor to say. For example, on that very question, there are a couple disagreements on what exactly the metaphor is supposed to mean. So, why would God use metaphors?

Is it the fact that atheists don't believe as they do? The fact that their threats of hell don't work? The fact that they won't play along and pretend something exists without evidence? Or the fact that the atheists actually have evidence to back up what they believe, rather than a piecemeal book of ancient stories and local rules from the middle east? For some reason it looks like the pagans, Hindu's and other religious groups don't have a real problem with atheists.

My priest said that there are a lot of things in the bible that didn't happen. Its how we use it to interpret it to live happy lives. But, doesn't that limits one's strong feeling of faith?
