Hi Megan, you are in a good place from what I can discern from your post, God loves you very much and has given you a heart that pleases Him, as for getting even closer to God the one thing that is critical is daily prayer.
You can talk to God as you would a best friend and you can also use formal/set prayers too, without prayer we become dry and desert-like so do try to spend some time with God in prayer.
As for the Bible I find that it is best to open it during prayer and read whatever little passage your eye focuses on,and you can also meditate/think about this passage and this too is prayer.
God bless and keep you alway`s in His love.

The Bible is a Very Interesting book. As others have said, pray that the Holy Spirit guide you.

Then, read it to answer questions that you're interested in. Find stories that are interesting to you. Make a commitment to read it all.

The Gospels are the best start for a Christian. You mention that you are confirmed so I assume this is your faith. Jesus is a Great Storyteller.

If you do commit to reading the entire Bible, it will serve you well. Even what appears to be "dry" parts will come back to you through the Holy Spirit to help guide you in your faith.

Don't get discouraged about reading the entire book. You will have enough time to do it. If you will, you may want to purchase a One Year Bible that has readings for each day of the year. There are many translations available for both Protestants and Catholics.

Enjoy! Grace

I was confirmed when I was younger in the Lutheran Church- however I have to tell you that didn't save me. I was not a born again believer to until a few years later, when I came to the realization that I was a sinner in need of grace and salvation. I memorized all the verses that I could for my confirmation class but that did not change my life, and draw me close to Him- because I was still separated from Him, due to my sin. When I was 17 I asked Jesus to be my Savior- and I am now almost 49 and still growing. I have not arrived yet, and I won't until Jesus takes me home with Him- however I pray that through fellowship with other believers, prayer and bible study, that I will get closer as the days go by. Wherever you start in your bible reading- remember it is not just reading that will cause you to go- it is praying that the Holy Spirit will help you live what you read. Putting it into daily practice- and that takes time- don't be impatient with yourself- God is waiting for you to take baby steps along the way. God bless you- God will honor your desire to draw closer.

Yes, read your Bible, slowly. and ask the Lord to speak to you thru His Word. Read some of the Psalms......or the book of 1John.....and as you read, meditate on the words. Let the words sink into your heart. When you come to something that speaks (excites or warms) your heart, underline it and put the day's date in the margin. This is God speaking to you. Keep thinking about and reading those Scriptures.

Then, visit with the Lord...........He loves to have you talk with Him.........He truly desires your fellowship. God will respond, and you will learn to know His Voice and you will feel His love !!

Blessings !!! God is excited about your hunger for Him.......he wants that personal relationship with you, and with all people!

You need to read your Bible every day and pray. The Holy Spirit will lead and teach you what God wants for you in your life. You need to start in the New Testament. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But as I said before pray before you read and the Spirit will guide you. God Bless

well its nice that you want to learn more about God, He wants you to know more about him. so how would you do that, well he's given us an instruction manuel (tthe Bible) you have to know that the Bible is not a novel, but a library of 66 books written over a period of 1600 yrs
so that we can know him, I was a Catholic until I was 32, I had all sorts of opinions, but none of them were backed up by accurate knowledge then I began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses we studied by subject, ffor instance let me ask you 3 elementary questions & tell me if you know the answer in the model prayer Jesus said to 1. Pray for God's name to be sancified 2. he said to pray for the coming of the Kingdom, 3. he said to pray for God's will to be done on earth.

Now can you give an answer to these elementary questions?

what is God's name, what is the Kingdom what is his will for the earth?

Congradulations! First, ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you can understand them. I suggest starting with the first four chapters of Genisis, then the Book of John straight through to Revelation. Then allow the Holy Spirit lead you and He will.

Read your bible. Sign up for a Bible Class...and Pray and earnestly seek God with ALL your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

A book that really helped me open my heart to God is
"Power of a Praying Woman" by Stormie Omartian
Prayer is VERY powerful and it's communication with our Heavenly Father that He seeks from us His children.

Read your Bible
Start with John's Gospel, then his three short Epistles.
Then read Genesis.
Then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into another Book of the Bible.

Focus on your personal relationship with god and leave religion out of it. That is how you become closer. Good luck.
