@ Meg M: Probably. As it is, I have no children; but if I had and if s/he broke the law, then s/he would have to face the consequences. That's what we raise children to do -- be adults. I wouldn't pay my child's fine unless I believed s/he was the victim of an unjust and immoral law.

Agreed, it is exceptionally immoral and some what barbaric to have one suffer and die for the sins of another. The doing of such a thing usually solves or resolves nothing.

The Bible Deuteronomy 24:16
The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Have a pleasant day.

It sounds like what you really want to say is that God is immoral for letting His Son be punished for the misdeeds of humans. If that is the case, why not just say that? Why try to get someone to agree with you when they do not know exactly what they are agreeing on? Also, if that is the case, then no, I do not agree with you. That is what Christ came here for.

Well, I would simple answer, but you deliberately left out where this was going.

Christ was a willing sacrifice plus if you count the trinity He punished himself. So many people whine that God was "mean" and set man up for failure with the fruit test. Well, since he paid the price you would think they would give it a rest, but noooo. You always have to fault find and think you are so much smarter than the creator of the universe.

God is not Immoral and if you do not like the fact that Christ died for you feel free not to accept the gift and see how well you fair paying for your sins yourself. For myself I will take the gift of Christ with a grateful heart and while the act is confusing I am glad he gives it freely.

Agree. Immoral and unnecessary. Forgiveness doesn't happen because there was punishment. Forgiveness just happens out the love in one's heart.

In fact I'll go so far as to say that if there was punishment, there wasn't forgiveness.

Absolutely. Punishing someone for something they didn't do would be exceptionally immoral.

I can only assume that you're talking about God having Jesus killed in order to forgive us for our sins. If that's the case, your ignorance of what the Bible teaches is showing.

Jesus isn't "someone else". He's God, come to earth as a man. He wasn't a victim, either...He willingly laid down His life for you and me.

The Bible says that there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for his friends...and that's what Christianity is about. God loves you and me so much that He demonstrated it by dying in our place.

That's not immoral. It's gracious.

Christ was not punished for our sins, he took on those sins because of his love for us. immoral - no. If it had been immoral, God would not have done it. Immoral is going against God, so God wouldn't do anything immoral - if this is what your question is asking.

No it's not. Forcing someone to be punished for someone else is wrong, but if the person willingly takes punishment for them (like Jesus willingly died for us) then it's perfectly fine.

Disagree. If your child incurred a fine they couldn't pay, would you absolutely refuse to pay it for them, regardless of the circumstances?

The trinity is one God. God willed that the body be killed and be resurrected.
