bashing Islam, why are you so afraid of what the Quran says if you don't secretly believe it's true? 90% of all muslims would never harm you, and the ones who are just plain psychotic are in the ME somewhere hiding out or harming others. Why do you feel this obsessive need to bash all muslim men, women, and children (both born and unborn) if you don't secretly believe you are going to burn for harming others? Seriously, some of you are so obsessed with it you make up different IDs on a daily basis just to do it. To me, that says that you know it's true and are fighting it because you don't want to accept that harming another person will get you major payback from the big guy in the end.

I've been having trouble finding the chapter and verses that describes Heaven's streets being of pure gold and what the gates look like. Does anyone know which chapter and verses?

Bono once asked Mikhail Gorbachev if he believed in God.
Gorbachev replied that he didn't, but added that he did believe in the "Universe".

That doesn't make sense to me (although it might to you).

I'm not saying Gorbachev's view is wrong. I've just always thought that, if you're an atheist, you don't believe in some "Greater Power"; whether it is God, the Universe or some other label.

Am I wrong, or is Gorbachev's view actually consistent?

I never repost these because I know my faith and eternity is not dependent on a Myspace bulletin.

I do.

Just because we are Christians doesn't mean we are immune to things like depression.

We are saved by grace through faith......and if that be the case then a born again Christian who takes his or her own life is forgiven.

Note: I am not advocating an approval of suicide. I would never compel someone to take their own life.....instead I would try to explain to them that God loves them and has won the battle over satan already.

Your thoughts.....

My theory goes as follows:
There were 12 disciples. They all had different opinions and perceptions of God and Jesus Christ. They went to different parts of the world to spread their word. Hence 12 different languages, and hence (here's the shocker) the 12 mainstream religions of the world, ie: Christianity, Judaism, Islam etc.
What do you think?

While in this section today, Find One person who has made a positive contribution toward someone else or some group of people and send them a positive note of THANKS! Then tell me who they are. I would like to get a good number of responses on this. Everybody deserves to be recognized when they are helpful to others and I have seen a large number of GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS on this site. Thank you!

From a friend:

"Living and Dying

If I live my life with meaning,
My legacy outlives my breath.

If I live my life with integrity.
My words have true meaning.

If I live my life with strong character,
My example is my greatest teaching.

If I live my life with inconditional love,
My message is to love always.

If I live my life with courage,
My inevitable journey to death will be fearless. Love...Joe"

I always hear people claim that Islam is the religion of peace. Neverthless, I surveyed only one chapter from the Quran (Quran has 114 chapters) and I found many verses that order Muslims to KILL and FIGHT non Muslims.

Some examples are:
I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite them above their necks and smite all their finger tips off them." [8:12]

It is not fitting for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he hath thoroughly subdued the land [8:67]

But (now) enjoy what ye took in war [8:69]

Is there any discrepancy between what I hear and those verses?

Especially for those that are atheist or agnostics, also for those that just go throug periods of doubt.
If you could choose to have faith and become a believer in God, would you.

Or is it some huge agreement-orgy? Have you ever went to church and disagreed with something a pastor said on stage? Or because you save the same belief, you're forced to be in agreement with everyone who shares your religion?

If not, can you give me one example?

I mean, he laid every alien babe he encountered and often got his crew mates killed (always the unnamed ones though, like Red Shirt #4).

Yet he was considered a hero of the federation.
How does that work? Also, did he have space herpes?

(mind you I'll take him over that stuffed shirt Picard any day no matter how good an actor Stewart is)
