I do.
Just because we are Christians doesn't mean we are immune to things like depression.
We are saved by grace through faith......and if that be the case then a born again Christian who takes his or her own life is forgiven.
Note: I am not advocating an approval of suicide. I would never compel someone to take their own life.....instead I would try to explain to them that God loves them and has won the battle over satan already.
Your thoughts.....

I appreciate the 'Good Person' test...I've seen it in action on Kirk Cameron's show....but it has no real bearing to this question.

Dear Primo,
I do not know. But I know the One who does know so I don't spend a whole lot of time pondering the question because He is TRUSTWORTHY.
It may be that some cases of suicide are forgiveable and some are not. The Author of life knows.

ok heres the thing, I'm no longer christian but i do have an opinion,
i think that suicide IS forgivable... i feel that if your committing suicide god pushed you (not in a bad way but to see how strong you are) to the point were you need to get out. since no one is able to live a perfectly happy life anyway...
I'm not saying suicide is the answer. and in my opinion no one will end up in a heaven anyway... but it is a good question. i also think that if you ask forgiveness before you might have giving your continuance a better feeling about doing it. because in your mind god has forgiven you. also if it wasn't meant to be like that you may receive a phone call or something of that matter, yet i also believe everything happens for a reason.
hope this helped..
)O( Blessed Be!

Suicide is a sin, God only has the right to take your life. I understand that people go through depression but if your faith is strong you will not think of suicide as your way out. Anyways i am not here to judge anyone , God is most forgiving. I cant personally judge that person because i dont know what the person actually went through to do such a tragic thing. The only time i dont have sympathy for sucide victims is when a guy or girl kills themselves bcoz thier boyfriend or girlfriend left them or they have financial problems..................... those are stupid & selfish reasons to commit suicide. Other than i have sympathy for others that had serious problems.

it is clearly written ALL sins are forgiven, only the sin of blasphemy against the holy ghost is not forgiven, then it says truely that ONLY the sons of perdition are lost, they are cast out into outer darkness.
but as for those who commit suicide, i know a couple of people who did the deed and one went straight to hell, and yet while he was there he called upon the name of christ and was saved Even out of hell.
Another commited the deed and found herself wandering in a desolate place where there was nothing but sorrow and more despair. I think she also called upon jesus and was brought back to life.
while yet i know of a famous testimony that was testified on live Radio nation wide. She was riding her bike home from church and was a sunday school teacher. She was hit by a truck and went straight to hell. and right away she met a demon of horrible fear.
nothing is guaranteed.
joseph smith jr. said that if people knew what was on the other side of life many would want to kill themselves just to get there.
But before they can get to "there" which is described as better than anything we have, one must be warned, there might be a long wait.
murderers cannot obtain forgiveness and salvation until the person they murder are restored to life. That means the resurrection. And no one knows when the resurrection will happen for each individual soul. and if a person kills himself when will God find forgiveness for such a soul? at the beginning of the resurrection or at the end?
if at the end it will take about 1000 years to be restored.
i for one would not want to be in the desolate place and suffering from despair for another 1000 years when just endearing to the end might only be 80 years.
Endure to the end and believe!

First, we must decide if suicide is a sin.
It is, because it is murder.
You can sin against yourself and it will still be a sin.
Those who idolize themselves are sinning.
And those who kill themselves our sinning.
Yes, they are depressed and yes, this is a huge mental illness.
But, many people have the mental illness, yet resist the urge to sin.
God will not allow you to be tempted without giving you a way to escape it.
The choice is ours, whether we take that "out" or not.
How can one be forgiven for suicide? You can't ask for forgiveness, if you are dea.
Some people believe that the prayers of others can redeem you.
I don't.
There is no where in the Bible that it says this.

Think about it... if it was taking your own life away is a forgivable sin, then dont you think there would be heaps of people killing themselves?
I Think that suicide is for the weak people who do not want to have the courage to fight by improving their life. god did not send us here to kill ourselves. we were born to live life and if we did do a sin during the duration of our lifetime, we are supposed to imrove our personal quality by not doing it again and not jsut kill ourselves just because we are depressed and be duped into thinking that god is going to firgive us for dying for the sin....
It is utter rubbish.
Just be strong and everyone will be fine.
Also remember, not one person in this world has not conducted a sin.. Unless off course you are under 10 years of age and are still naive about life.
Conducting a sin is part of life.. if no one has sinned, the job specification of the priest would be useless. I know of priests who are or have been the biggest rascals in their past as well, but have changed by devoting themselves to a religion. any religion or belief is the same.

The bible says "the wages of sin is death". So if someone dies, they have paid for their sin. In the case of suicide, that would be only something God could decide. Does this person who took their own life deserve to life again? With all the mental illness today, I'm sure God would take that into consideration.
Now someone like Hitler who took his own life so as not to face his punishment???? Of course, Hitler did a lot of things to condemn him before that. But was he mentally ill?
It would appear so...
Only God can read our hearts, no matter how we died.

Any sin is forgiveable if one truly repents.
Judas hang himself after betraying Jesus.
I guess we do make mistakes and we do sin against God. Again and again. But that doesn't mean He will tire of us. His love is unconditional. The battle was already won when Jesus died on the cross. Everyone is already saved.
I AM A CATHOLIC. ;-P
you did ask for our thoughts right?
you said,"...instead I would try to explain to them that God loves them and has won the battle over satan already.",... if the battle has been won, shouldn't that imply that everyone is saved? As i know, Jesus did not come to save the believers but the non-believers. Who do you think needs salvation? Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven... For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost... For God sent not His Son to condemn the world but that the world thru Him may be saved...

Yes I do believe suicide is forgivable. I believe that Jesus' love for us is unconditional. I can't imagine the pain and suffering a person must feel to think that their only way to peace is through ending their life.
My heart is filled with compassion for anyone who feels that depressed as well as the loved ones they leave behind.

I believe that to receive forgiveness for any sin in this life, we must ask for it - How can we ask for forgiveness posthumously?
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it
