I heard a lot of Atheists said that they hate the idea that theists kept forcing religion to them,

but I also heard from a lot of atheists that they kept telling theists God doesn't exist, isn't that like, forcing your beliefs on others?

By the way, I do not generalize, I merely say that I've seen a lot of atheists like this.

Opinion?

Life has been on earth for some 3.7 billion years, with complex multicelluar life flourishing several hundred million years ago. The dinosaurs dominated the terrestrial landscape for some 160 million years before becoming extinct, 65 million years prior to humans. The earliest human predecessors arrive at a mere half-second tick of the geological clock- only a few million years ago.
During all of this time before humans arrived, there was no religion. There were no gods, no ghosts, no creation myths, no doomsday predictions, no miracles, no angels, no demons, no 'spiritual warfare', no psychics, no astrology, no heaven and no hell. Why? Because it required a self-aware species with the ability to imagine abstractly to invent all of these things.

If one day, after our few ticks on the geological clock pass, another species evolves here or elsewhere; will they take the same shortcut to understanding that our species has, belief?

The Lost Tomb of Jesus," produced by Oscar-winning director and scheduled to air March 4 on the Discovery Channel, argues that 10 small caskets, called ossuaries, discovered in 1980 in a Jerusalem suburb may have held the bones of Jesus and his family. One of the caskets even bears the title, "Judah, son of Jesus," Jacobovici said that a name on one of the ossuaries — "Mariamene" — offers evidence that the tomb is that of Jesus and his family. In early Christian texts, "Mariamene" is the name of Mary Magdalene. Imaging if it's trueee!!!

I recently asked Athiests why they care what Christians and others think since it is obviously of no concern to them and we are all going to the same spot no matter what we think. Here are some of the answers and a "rebuttal" from me:

7 people said they don’t like that Christians “impose” views onto them. BUT they are on Yahoo answers in the R&S section. Do they really think God/Jesus won't come up?

7 people said they don’t want Christian influence in shaping political policy. BUT they seem to want athiest influence to shape policy. Why not just accept that athiesm is a religion and that policy should be shaped by personal and moral beliefs of a society regardless of faith?

12 people said they want to argue the “other side” so Christians don’t think they are 100% right. BUT This was the reason I asked the question. Why does it matter if we think we got it right? Can't we dream some?

I am curious: Are the Athiest reasons valid? Are my points valid? Any thoughts? Be nice!!

In that you don't use force against others, are honest, play by the rules, practice fair trade when dealing with others, earn what you need to get what you want out of life, etc. I mean a criminal, a liar, a bully, a thief, a beggar, can't have self-esteem can they? Is that where heavy drinking comes in?

Whoever quotes the most violent thing God did from the Bible wins.

Have fun.

I've seen those terms used rather frequently here in the R&S section, yet none of the religious folks I know elsewhere have ever heard of them or use them, to be able to define them if asked. I'm curious what those mean exactly.

It just doesn't make sense...its just a bunch of letters and a few other stories, but overall is inconsistent with the old testament and even itself. Not to mention the letters in the bible are a small fraction of the letters written by christian leaders after the birth of christianity. It has been influenced and altered considerably by many different, powerful people...Constantine, multiple scribes of different eras, catholics, protestants, greeks, romans, egyptians, etc.. a lot of it doesnt even make sense--and it definitely, to my understanding, does not support a lot of fundamental christian doctrines and traditions--like the trinity and sunday worship and war etc... any help, from maybe a pastor or something?

Many religions seem to do this, i am a polytheist, but i'm also a panentheist, but i somehow understand henotheism as in hinduism (where they have thousands of gods, but claim to have only one) or like the trinity in xtianity, but when praying to more than one deity as one, do these gods become one deity?

Is this like praying to a group of deities or do you believe it is one deity that's able to multiply into different instances of it self? Or is it more like a group of deities that act as one entitiy when invoked, and then splits up again to do their individual purposes?
