These Fundamentalist Christians on here asking troll questions waiting for someone to answer exactly what they say. That one in 500 posts and selecting them as the best answer? They like to spout how american and patriotic they are while promoting hate and bigotry.

Some people read the Bible and the use it to bash the Catholic Church. This does not make sense because it was Catholic bishops that decided which books to keep and which to exclude. If you use the Bible as your religious text are you not actually acknowledging the authority of the Catholic Church in matters of religion?

Isaiah 30:21
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

-One of my favorite verses, how would you describe this in your own words?

How many other Christians believe that we get to hung up focusing on our "Religion" (rules and practices) instead of focusing on God's word.

Hommos is Chick-pea paste, a delicious and tasty meal. Usually eaten with Falafel.

I didn't want to post this in the Gay, trangenderd, Bisexual section for obvious reasons.

Disclaimer: Much pun intended.

Every time I turn on CNN and there's footage of 500 brown people wearing turbans, standing in the middle of some bombed-out street somewhere, shaking their AK-47s in the air, and chanting slogans in some goofy-@ss foreign language, the anchorperson always says:

"And this is video shot earlier today in the Holy City of Mooga Booga Doo Da (or wherever)."

When I picture a "holy city," I picture a city full of devoutly religious people who peacefully go about their business.

Apparently, their version of "holy" differs from mine, eh?

first: shouldnt prayer be communication between you and your god? not you asking for things?

second: if you think prayer will help change gods mind, we can look at it this way. God is all knowing, god has a set plan, you pray to him and ask for something, he "changes" his mind and gives it to you. he had already forseen this event so he didnt even change his mind, he was ready for this. so this was obviously part of his will.

so the question becomes, prayer today is nothing more then asking for things that god has already a plan for. your chances are getting them are dependant not on whether god will change his mind but whether its in his will.

so really, prayer doesnt affect the outcome of anything u ask for. so why not just stick to talking to god instead of asking for things? dont you think god would rather you talk to him then ask for things all the time?

I am not looking for names of denominations, but rather names of churches (i.e First Baptist Church of Louisville). I have done searches on Google and Yahoo with no luck.

I did see that there are over 300,000 churches in this country, I just want to get a list of their names. I do not need phone numbers or addresses. I would be willing to pay a small amount for a comprehensive list, but am not interested in list services that are going to charge me $.10 a name or something like that.

This is for a project in grad school and I am just stumped. I really expected this information to be readily available.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did he answer you? In what format? Did He give you something so you can physically prove that it happened, like a letter with a present post date? If not why does He tell you to preach His word, but leave you hanging without the ammo to be able to totally prove to the unbelievers that your message is true? Why doesn't it anger you that he makes you live on faith only? Wouldn't something more tangible be appropriate, so you can do a better job at spreading His message?

It talks of unicorns

[Isaiah 34:7] "And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness."

And that the earth is flat/ rectangular

[Isaiah 11:12] "And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth."

And this one I'm not even gonna explain...

[Deuteronomy 23:1 ESV]"No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord."

Kings 2:23-24 NKJV

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

Jesus really said in the Bible? Let's assume for the sake of the question, that what is in the New Testament is dead on about Jesus really said and how he lived.

Can today's people actually separate what is just accepted christian dogma from what Jesus ACTUALLY said in the Bible. Do they know the Bible enough to know what was actually taught?

For example, I've heard people say that Jesus didn't approve of gays. I don't believe that subject was approached by Jesus at all.

Well, I'm currently agnostic, and i feel that nobody can say aanything bad about me because all religion is is faith not proof, there is no truth in any religion. If there is please correct me if i'm wrong. Are you familiar with the documentary movie, "The God who was'nt there" Well i highly reccomend that you take a look at it and discover the truth about christianity and or religion as a whole. Also check out "Jesus Camp" and the BBC's "The root of all evil" I just want people to realize that religion is doing more harm than good and i think that that is evident now with all that is going on. You can watch all these movies on google for free ofcourse and walk away a little wiser, a little more enlightened. Just because i choose not to be apart of any religion does'nt mean that I'm a bad person, I still know right from wrong without the help of a god or a book. The law of man and nature is all I need, common courtesy , charity, good will, and love are fundamentals in humans.

if god has a will, as so many claim, then how come you think prayer will change his will? if god wants a man to die, and 1000 people come to pray for that man, will god change his mind?

As for me, i have become more apathetic, and learned to think out of the Box (Although it was a very large box), also i've realised that there are many atheists.
