Jesus really said in the Bible? Let's assume for the sake of the question, that what is in the New Testament is dead on about Jesus really said and how he lived.

Can today's people actually separate what is just accepted christian dogma from what Jesus ACTUALLY said in the Bible. Do they know the Bible enough to know what was actually taught?

For example, I've heard people say that Jesus didn't approve of gays. I don't believe that subject was approached by Jesus at all.

Most of you are quoting me Old Testament answers to a New Testament question.

My question, was do you know all of the lessons that Jesus actually taught.

And on another note, if Jesus did not come to usurp and change the laws and such that came from the Old Testament, Christians would essentially be messianic jews. And they are far from that.

The gay portion wasn't a sticking point. This question is not about gays. It was only an example.

I also am not looking for what other people said. No apostle workings and beliefs. I will take an apostle saying, Jesus told us this. But not the musings of an apostle.

Christianity is about Christ. And about the teachings of Christ.

Many of the answers I'm getting are essentially, that Jesus would have followed and abided by God's law, so of course he would have followed all things previous. Despite not saying so. This(although I don't mean offense), will most likely sound offensive.

What this tells me, is that Christianity is less about Christ. And more about the law that God already had in place. That Jesus was essentially an agent of God's will. He made a large sacrifice, but if his will is assumed based on previous happenings and laws before his death, what he actually said becomes less important. No?

I'm not trying to offend. However, I am trying to pose a serious question.

How much of what jesus said is in the bible? The gospels report how jesus was born, the story behind his birth, then how he was baptised by this time half of gospel is gone, then his miracles, few more chapters then the remaining chapters are all about his journey to his death. Between his birth, death and few miracles I dont see him talking much. It is all his desciples, paul, peter, etc, etc who have spoken as though jesus has spoken.

Jesus has spoken only few things like any other preacher, but it is his desciples who has done all the talkings, letters etc etc.

If you dont believe me, forget about his desciples and read only the one which says JESUS SAID THIS,, there is hardly any subject he has spoken on.

For all you Christians that say that Jesus came to fulfill the law and not usurp it......Read leviticus and then justify that statement. How many Laws written in Leviticus do you break every day. Do you eat pepperoni pizza? SIN!!!! Or maybe Jusus usurped the unclean animal laws but not the Homosexuality laws? If you are a woman, do you stay indoors during your mestration cycle? If not.....SINNER, if you are a male and touch an unclean woman during this time.......SINNER. You are no better than homosexuals, the anti homosexual laws were written in the same book and were deemed to be just as sinful as touching unclean things, and eating unclean foods. If you happen to be a Christian who enjoys condemning the gay lifestyle, then consider yourself on notice, and in violation of just as sinful acts. Of course most of you will ignor this as it won't fit in with your comfortable, self righteous belief system.

Have a stunning day.

I understand your point. The fact that Jesus is the word of God and was in existence from the beginning and spoke the universe into existence from nothing says it all. If the very word of God is Jesus and in the word of God it says that gays are not an acceptable lifestyle choice to God among other things then Jesus said it even if He did not say while He was on earth and living among men. This is not my opinion this is what the bible says.

The Holy Bible is written by men and authored by God. We know this is true because when we stand up and stand on the truth claims of God that are written in the bible we find that they are not only true they are consistently true. Whether we choose to accept the wisdom of God that is in the Holy Bible or not does not effect the veracity of God's word.

Yes, we can separate what is mans doctrine over God's doctrine. Doctrine means teaching. Dogma usually refers to a legalistic perspective. If we live our life based on the standards set forth in the Holy Bible then we are not as susceptible to dogma. This is because we are reading the Holy Bible and renewing our mind, learning how to think correctly about our self and the world around us. We start to see our self and world around us the way God see us and from His perspective. When we pursue our personal one on one relationship with the Living God and do not rely on others to do it for us we are able to gain God's wisdom and His knowledge with understanding.

The best thing we can do when it comes to our questions about God is to go to the source for our answer. We are always able to verify that we have the "truth" because it will line up with God's word

As spoken earlier, the scriptures were given by the inspiration of GOD, which in addition Jesus IS the LIVING WORD OF GOD, so he'd stand by everything written in the Bible. So to know JESUS view on things, we'd have to search the scriptures open heartedly and steadfast in prayer to gain the right view on what he's saying.

Jesus is God's word in the flesh. The Bible is God's written word.

Jesus told us that He died for all sins even sins of the flesh. Jesus, took our place for every sin that we commit if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior and repent of those sins.

Sins of the flesh are any type of sexual activity outside of the marriage of one man and one woman.

Jesus is the friend of sinners whether they have chosen the sin of homosexuality or any other sin. These sins are against God. Our only way back to God is Jesus.

If we love Jesus, we don't sin willfully.

P.S. Jesus did not come to destroy the laws of the OT. He fulfilled them by His death, for the Jewish people. Because they were imperfect human beings, they could not do them. God knew this and that is why He sent His perfect Son here to die for us as the blood sacrifice that God requires for sin, OT and NT. For the Jews as well as the Gentiles.

2/14/07, I edited this today after Sansfear's post and thinking about it more deeply.

"Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers - none of these will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor 6:9-10).

Jesus is God, and God does not change, and the Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin- See 1 Corinthians 6.
Also in Leviticus it speaks of how it is an abomination in the eyes of God....that is why Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed. God made man for woman and woman for man- this is natural and was designed this way.

Romans 1:25-27 speaks about how those who gave up the truth of God for a lie, were given over to their lusts- 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

--It is a sin in God's eyes.

Homosexuality is called an abomination in the Old Testament. Jesus stated clearly that he did NOT come to set aside the Old Testament. He hates all sin and that is just one of them.

God says in His Word that ALL of it is inspired. Inspired literally means in the Greek, "God Breathed". That means everything written in the Bible was superintended by Him
