Kings 2:23-24 NKJV

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

No, if you think thats retarded, then I'm quite sure you will spend adequate time searching page by page for something to write that you don't understand, and so think is retarded.
If it keeps ya busy, go for it.
Elisa was just given a double portion of the spirit of Elijah; being just a man, flesh and blood, he did not yet realize the awesome amount of power that meant. This certainly opened his eyes to the great responsibility he had to use it very wisely.

The cruelty of these children was a reflection of the parents lack of teaching and discipline.
Rebellious children were, according to the law of the time, to be stoned. The horrible harshness of the law is evident, and it seems to us to be unconscionable while we place such high regard upon our children today.
But the responsibilities to teach children respect towards all, and particularly to their elders, remains in a deficeit even to this day.
We can be grateful that the laws of our land do not require such harsh punishment for rebellious children. If that were so, then there would be a significant reduction in the numbers of our youth, for the parents today in many cases have failed to teach their children.

You know, every time some innocent person suffers, someone says, "If God exists, then why didn't he do something to protect this innocent person from the bad people?"

So, the one time that God intervenes to protect an old man from a gang of 42 teenagers who were threatening to kill him (the term "go up" literally means go to heaven), then people whine that God is cruel.

Septics will never be satisfied; God is condemned if he does, and condemned if he doesn't.

Go play in the snow, and quit trolling for attention on the Internet.

He had just become a prophet like his father and didn't realize things would happen simply because he said so. He cursed the kids and so they were.

Your use of the word "retarded" puts you in a special group of people with absolutely no class.

I worked at the Special Olympics and I can assure you that I never encountered any impaired person as disrespectful as you are. If you had any grace at all, you would be ashamed.

I took offense at your use of the word retarded - I work with mentally retarded and they can't help a medical condition. Not like idiots who use the word for actions that are calculated and thought out or as an adjective. Use your words wisely by using your brain!

Jews took mocking of their prophets seriously back then. Sort of like Islamic fundamentalists today.

Could be, but then again, Christians often like to quote snippets out of context like this, and that is how they "prove" the NT from the OT..

Does it say what happened after the bears attacked? The passage was interesting up to the point where he told God to cause the attack and it did. Utter nonsense. the creator does not act on the simple whims of us.
