first: shouldnt prayer be communication between you and your god? not you asking for things?

second: if you think prayer will help change gods mind, we can look at it this way. God is all knowing, god has a set plan, you pray to him and ask for something, he "changes" his mind and gives it to you. he had already forseen this event so he didnt even change his mind, he was ready for this. so this was obviously part of his will.

so the question becomes, prayer today is nothing more then asking for things that god has already a plan for. your chances are getting them are dependant not on whether god will change his mind but whether its in his will.

so really, prayer doesnt affect the outcome of anything u ask for. so why not just stick to talking to god instead of asking for things? dont you think god would rather you talk to him then ask for things all the time?

Yes,
Anking for things is personnal gain, and that is bad,
I pray to God like a child calling home, just to check up on mom and dad, God is a very old dad.

2) Yes, God is very confusing, thats why I leave it up to him, trying to follow his thought proccess, well....I think that's why the loony bin is so full.

3) That
's what i do. I like talking to God, He's got some good jokes. I found out, he created my boyfriend's soul, for amusement.

But I still ask God for things like strenghth and patience. More or less guidance, He kbnows I'm a proud soul, I don't like people doing things for me, So Why would I want God living my life for me, it's MINE!!

Wow! Someone who has a clue! I discovered about 11 years ago that there is more to worship than just singing. I grew up in a religious denomination. I NEVER heard anyone pray a prayer of worship until 11 years ago. I was so blessed by the experience I started to research prayer in the Bible. I now spend most of my prayer time worshiping and praising God rather than asking for things. I do make supplications for our country and the leaders of it. I also do the same for the leaders of the world. There is nothing more blessed than to spend an hour or two just worshiping God in prayer. I don't have any words to describe what it does for the soul! It is cleansing! Chippy, keep bringing up the questions. They will get through to people. You appeal to the intellect as well as the heart. Go with God!

Ok
1 Yes that is what it is, I tell Him things that bother me, I thank Him, I praise Him, I ask for help to be stronger, more patient, more kind and loving. I ask for Him to watch over my family. I ask Him to make His plan for me and my family evident so that we can know our choices are for good.

2 I would say that God knows when we will pray and He is waiting until then to grant us favor. But that does not mean He is not willing to grant it all a long. For example I will think to myself, if Tyler gets his work done this morning we will go to the park at lunch. I may not mention it. I through words and deed encourage him to get done, but I wait for him to do his work. If he had done it day 1 I would have come through. If it takes 2 weeks, then ok. I know it will not be an everyday thing because my son is not personally that consistant, but if he ever was I would still do my part. It is my will that he be rewarded, but it still waits on the correct behavior from him.

Hope this expains my opinion on this better.

What we DON'T want to find ourselves doing is stopping our prayer. Jesus said to pray, and that God already knows of what we need before we ask, but what praying is is an act of Faith. And our faith should increase daily. So God sees past those corners that we cannot. We, by not praying may be taking things upon ourselves-- leaning upon our own understanding.

So I would disagree with you. Prayer DOES affect the outcome! Because God at times holds things back. He wants to work with our faith! So what better way to give him that faithing atmosphere than to initiate an 'act of faith' ?

Prayer IS communication with God. It's not like a letter to Santa Clause, it's not just to "get things" tho some use it that way, unfortunately.

God may have foresaw you praying, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have any effect on your situation. God gave us authority in the earth, and free choices for our lives. When we pray and submit to him, it HUGELY changes our situations.

God says that faith can move mountains, we have to believe him enough to do that.

I almost agree with you. But prayer does effect the outcome of everything we pray for. If I ask GOD for 27 virgins and a hundred porn magazines and he answers "no". That could be a clue as to what his will is for me. If I ask GOD to open the eyes of those who are truly seeking him on Yahoo the answer may be "yes". We are to run everything past GOD just like we would want our kids to run everything past us. If my 3 year old wanted to drive a car I would say no but I would also start taking steps later on in his life so he could drive and be a great driver. If he wanted some cocaine I would say no. He would in turn discover my will for him. He may also ask for something that I would not of normally given him that I would gladly give him if it was not bad for him.
See?
I do like to talk to my son more then to just say yes and no to request. There we agree 100%

What are you refering to? Your question is a conglomeration of confusion. which most people pray for Look up Mathew chapter 6, verses 9 - 16 Then you will know the reason for prayer, it not asking for things you want, you will get what you want, from God you get what you need.

actually chip it does- God knows yes- but God also wants to give us the desires of our hearts, and knows them beforehand too. but it is our faithfulness and devotion to him when we pray and our communication with Him- draws us closer to Him. I gave you scriptures describing why we pray. And why God wants us to pray. There are so many verses pertaining to prayer---and how important it is. And what we ask for, many times God has already been planning on giving it, for He knows what we will ask- But without prayer, our relationship with Christ will not be nourished.

Matthew 21:22
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
