I couldn't agree more.
As a Christian preacher, writer and Evangelist I deal with people all the time that are so wrapped up in their religion that their faith in God actually suffers.
We need to remember that religion is actually man made.
It's about faith in God and obedience to HIS word that counts.

How many of us just get too hung up in, or with this world? Or dumping on "other peoples choices", of 'religion"?
Well, I am finally beginning to see, "God will choose His followers, and the rest, He will decide if they will come to Him, or turn a deaf ear." All in His time.
We are so blessed to be among the ones He has chosen to call "Children of God".
I believe we should teach by example, but not preach, or 'Shove down others throats", what we know and believe, as it only seems to push them further away when we press too hard, and so yes, for some I think what you are saying is very true.

Christianity is much more than a religion. It's a relationship with the living God, through Jesus Christ.
However, there are some denomination that seem to get caught up in legalism...like the Pharisee's did in Jesus' day.
It's not only the written word but the Spirit in which it was written.
Jesus saves, forgives and lives!

GUILTY! I found a church that tells the truth, even if it is that I am doing this very thing. The truth is sometimes ugly but always necessary. Thank God I don't have to worry about it. I just say forgive me and go on. I find spending time in prayer worshiping God is a good way to avoid the religiousness, and with time, God will help me overcome all the religion I was raised in.

Sometimes we may, but if we follow the rules just to please God by not doing bad things then we probably aren't too hung up focusing on the rules and practices. But Christianity isn't just about that, it's also about growing closer to God so maybe sometimes.

Me.
I'm a youth director in a very traditional church and I struggle with that all the time.
What I've started to learn, however, is that for some people, those traditions and practices play a very deep part of their spiritual journey ...
but I really have a hard time figuring out why.

Even worse , too many of us get hung up on stupid arguments between denominations and with non-Christians. This ends up making us look like fools and turning people away from our faith.

I do, most religions teach traditions of men rather than the true word of God. Most people involve themselves with a religion that : agrees with what they want to hear, forgive them of all the evil that they do. stealing, lying, fornication.
Teaches them things they choose not to investigate whether it's true or not.
Allows them to be snobby, and hypocritical.

Yes.
Christianity is about relationship with God and our fellow man.
We find that hard so we resort to following rules. It makes it easier to follow when we have a checklist.
We should be following God.

I agree. I would even say that nine tenths 9/10ths of the church does not know the Word of God or will they ever know it. God didn't give us His word for it to sit on a shelf. We suffer because of our lack of knowledge of the Word of God.
