I appreciate all of the athiests who have waded through several of my questions as I try to reconcile several of the answerers, disparit comments. While I do not share your lack of belief I do respect your position and can understand it.

An statement is often made that, beyond your common agreement that Atheists simply hold a lack of beleif in God, there is a common feeling of the need to protect your rights. I can only assume that is what has given rise to the many Athiest organizations that some here have given me reference to (it is what most of there sites are framed around).

Could somone explain how one would lose the right to not believe? I mean I realize that it is contrary to the constitution etc. but is there or has there been legislation brought forth that would limit your right to not believe? How would that be accomplished? I am aware of the effort of some to try to restore rights of faith that were over turned.

Or Vice Versa.

If so, what was the experience like? What led to the occasion? Is there a planned follow-up?

is it so necessary to believe in the bible if one believes that there is g-d? i think that if you believe that you will go to hell for your misdeeds that you are not 'getting it.' it would be easier to think of our concept of g-d as the wonder of ALL life, EVERYWHERE. not that i am against atheists stating that there could not be g-d, because i think that they believe that religious people (not those trying to shove their bible thumping down your throat, just regular religous people) follow g-d only via the bible. there are many faults with the bible.
1. it was translated too many times.
2. the new testament was not even written until at least 50 years after christ died, and people did not live then as long as we live today.
3. many 'books' of gospel were not allowed to be included in the bible--they came into the church 'too late.'
4. the dead sea scrolls were not discovered for too long.
5. if you take the bible literally, it just makes no sense.
6. it is arrogan

My church does a Valentine's Banquet every year and I need some new ideas for games to play. We are all played out on the newlywed game. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I personally have nothing against religion besides Jehovah's Witness who goes door to door and the individuals who say everything is a sin when its not their buisness. The majority of extremly religious people feel you need to believe in God if you don't but they don't wanna hear it when you tell them your perfectly happy not believing. I choose science and evolotion over the Bible because it has more facts to back it up. Science has multiple sources, religion people just say "the Bible says _______".

I do believe that for some people believing in a God helps them overcome things, I just personally think its all psychological.

This is another question that arose in one of my classes. Most of my questions are like that. Anyway, I'm just wondering is there a religion or belief or whatever that believes that man is not born good and not able to save himself and in need of a savior other then Christianity? I'm also wondering if there are any that believe that man is born evil? Or that man is born evil but that God will still save them just because God is God?

lets face it atheists are known to completely shread pastors and deacons with logic thats why they hate us, were a major threat.
iv seen atheists call up pastors and preachers and have them stuttering in utter ignorance and make fools out of them.
so the real question is you cant even defend what you preach? pretty pathetic if you ask me. science wins everytime

I keep seeing this idea all over the place.

"If you believe in God and you're wrong, it doesn't matter. If you don't believe in God and you're wrong, you go to Hell. So why not cover yourself and believe?"

Isn't belief for the sake of salvation an act of greed and selfishness, not love and faith?

I wanted to know what made sex become associated with sin in western culture but not in eastern cultures. The west finds it taboo and has seen it as such for many many years. Yet in the eastern world it is regarded as great and wonderful. Phalluses are used to represent luck and happiness. Artwork is fillied with sexual innuendos and sex is encouraged. When did this split occur and why? My professor asked us to think about that in my seminar.

Athiests swear by logic and logic cant jump.

Lets face it,God is real and we will all be held to account for our actions when we die.
Everybody will be told to empty out their pockets and every bad thing you said and did will all be there to be seen, nothing will be overlooked or forgotten.
Athiest say pretty bad things about God.

Athiests?Worst(best?)case scenario,,,supposing just supposing there is a God,,what are you going to say in your defence?

No harm having your bases covered.
